Well I just may be getting a slightly based opinion on this f0 but I think I want to get plugged into a MMORPG... I used to play text MUDs but I can't get back into them. I think its the out of school st00pidity factor kicking in ;) all.. that... text... to.. read. I want purty pictures like in my Golden Books. So Im wondering about Everquest and DAoc or maybe there is another game to try? Anarchy Online sounded cool but from what seems to be the case now it is a lost cause.

I got a free version of Everquest from PC magazine which was a one month trial version. I was on it for about 2 weeks when Rooster posted asking if anyone was playing DAoC.
I went, bought DAoC, and haven't turned back since.
Shortly after, 90% of LoL started playing it.
Personally, I like DAoC better than Everquest.
If Wolf comes here, he'll give you a good idea as he had some high level char's on EQ.

another one bites the dust...
If you don't have a lot of time to yourself, or are a full-time student like me or are otherwise occupied for the majority of a full time work week, you might seriously consider DAoC over EQ.
On the other hand, if you've got massive blocks of hours at a time every day just lying around like cases of stale MRE's, EQ can really be great fun. I say hours because eventually that's how much time you're going to have to invest at higher levels.
It's a personal choice and I could get into many more details if requested, but at this point I feel like DAoC is more casual and laid back about many things, while EQ is like work. I still play EQ because some very close friends of mine play and that's about it.
That's what really makes EQ tick - there are some very nice people out there, and once you've found who they are the game takes on new meaning. The downside to this is that there are far, far more assholes lurking around and just waiting to unload on someone. Again, it all comes down to how much time you have and how you deal with people.
