BF2, who plays!

well i got bf2 last week and LOVE the game...very fun stuff, just wondering who here plays? i usually play around 11/midnight for hour/hour and a half so if anyone is down for playing msg me..

It sounded really complicated for a guy who doesn't know much about the names of all the world war two stuff. i mean, i know the history really well but i don't know the names of the guns and stuff like that.

You don't need to know anything except how to aim/fire at the enemy :)

It's a great game, but I usually play that while my daughter's still awake.

Is it a FPS? I'm horrible at those, I really prefer to see my hero. My brain works better somehow

I love BF2!!

It's a slower paced FPS (I don't have fun with UT style games any more :( )

It's kit based & squad based.

Commander (only 1 per side)
Order satellite sweeps (spots enemies from an overhead map, right click on a dot to spot it for everyone)
Order artillery strikes (large area, mass destruction)
Resupply crates (gives ammo, health & repairs - anyone)
UAV scan (shows all enemies on mini-radar screen)
Give commands (& voice chat with squad commanders)

Special Forces:
Good gun
C4 <-- blow up stuff - like artillery, UAV trailer, satellite trailer, tanks
Smoke grenades
Ran far


Sniper:
Sniper rifle (upgradable to sniper .50 cal, can shoot through windshields)
claymore (anti-personnel mine)
other stuff

Assault:
Machine gun w/grenade launcher
grenades
armor vest
Run medium

Support:
.50 cal heavy machine gun
can hand out ammo & re-ammo vehicles
armor vest

Anti-tank
sub-machine gun
ERYX/Anti-tank TOW

Medic
weak machine gun
medic packs to heal people
shock paddles to revive critically injured teammates (or kill enemy)

There's all kinds of vehicles & other positions in the vehicles
Attack (2 seat) & transport choppers (with side gunners) (5)
Jets (1 & 2 seat)
Tanks (2, 1 for machine gunner on top)
APC's (large bore cannon + carries people)
Anti-air vehicles (missiles + x4 machine guns)
buggy's/hummers/trucks (4'ish)
boats (usually fast attack raft stuff)

There's a few more in the expansion (ATV, jetski, other stuff)

You play long enough, you get to upgrade your weapons.

It's awesome - but don't bother if you have less than 1GB RAM - 2GB HIGHLY recommended.

Alright, so which one of those is overpowered and/or there are way too many people playing?

I usually play engineer/tankwhore. That way I can scoot into a hiding spot and repair my tank, then go blast noobs :)

none are really overpowered, its about your tactics...i play as specops and medic mostly, but with medic find myself living much longer due to health and playing smarter...and the upgrade gun isnt all that bad...specops is however a killing machine so when you have a good medic with you you're gona do some serious damage

Is it fairly realistic? I.E.: If you get shot anywhere above the waist you are gonna die

I have it and played it..
It takes a very long time to load on my machine for some reason.. like 2-5min to load a Map.. it's nutz.. I've no idea why..
But a sweet game.

ya it is kinda laggy for having a not so great system, nevertheless i have plenty of fun...

I play it whenever I don't have more then a hour or 2 of time to play DAoC (or WoW Previous). Great game all around.
