I am wondering what is a good laptop for under $2000...

Preferably under $1800, and running Windows OS, and lightweight... thanks guys =)

Edit: Primarily I'll be using this laptop as the "Away from home" thing... when I go to the library to study, or when I go home or abroad (rather than lugging my desktop setup). I'm looking for reliability and dependability (something that doesn't have a rep for breaking, or for shafting you on warranty Service).

The most important thing will be for this thing to be able to run office and internet programs; Hardcore gaming is not important (although the ability to run a few games would be nice =P =)

The system I'm looking at now is the HP Omnibook 6100 here http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0-1027-405-6778599.html?tag=dir-rev

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Most reviews say its a great system for the money, but it has a 1.7 hour battery. :( Also it weighs more than the average laptop.

of course dell does a free memory upgrade for their systems or the rebate, so if you do the inspirion you should just choose to get the memory upgrade instead of the rebate, that way you dont have to send shit in. and get :fuct: over from waiting for rebates

I use an inspiron at work and it seems to be stable and pretty nice... I can run the sims on it and I think I used to run eq on it too :D, they didn't run spectacularily well, but it's a laptop...

that's all I know about laptops :D

Thanks zach =)

Both those systems are pretty heavy, and suited better for mobile gaming I think than what I am looking for...

I'm also looking at the Sony PCG-GR370
Win XP, 1.13ghz P3, 256 SDRAM, 30gb HDD, 15" XGA TFT, Dvd/CD-rw drive, nic, and 6.1 lbs

and the HP ZT1170 which is the exact same except 512 mb SDRAM, weighs 6.5 lbs, and costs an extra $100

I haven't really heard too much about either of these, so I'm looking for opinions... they are both rather stylish too =p =)

edit: and WTF is "WiFi" ??

Light And Compact (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.asp?customer_id=19&keycode=6V944&order_code=41NVCD&cfgpg=1)
$1,816.00 Not only is it light but has a geforce2go in it also. I assumed you did not want to recieve office xp with it so make sure you remove that if you put in these options in the custom setup.
