I completely agree with the Roo above, Mythic has said over and over that speccing in one line is a BAD thing. I myself With the aged Aasimon have divided my points into Void/Mana. In the early days if you looked at my skills you would have thought i was a pure specced Void, but I focused on this damage line (alot like light magic) so that i could solo effectively in the early levels and take advantage of the great kill task experience. As i leveled however I increased the amount of points into my mana line, thereby granting me debuffs, snare, PBAE, and alternative AE spells that slow attacking speed.

Where am i now? Exactly what mythic suggests for a 1x skill point class. My Void skill is about 2/3 of my level ( maybe just slightly higher) and my mana skill is exactly 1/2 my level. With + Void skill Items I have brought my Void to 2 levels above my level so I have no concern of not hitting for optimal damage.

How does single speccing Gimp you caster you ask? I honestly dont know. Havent gotten to the level where anyone has shouted "I'm gimped"!!. BUT I do believe you could lull youself into a bored trance with the same 4 spells on your quickbar for 50 levels. I have never had a problem being outdamaged by another eld of the same level, even those pure void or pure mana ones. Maybe they refer to the dangers of not being good in RvR if ya are solo specced, not sure how though.. light specs offer stuns, debuffs, nukes, and mez,.... mana specs offer snare, debuffs, AE, PBAE spells,.... and Void offers BOLT DD, BOLT DD, AE, AE. Pls reply to me if ya can help me find why mythic said that ya could gimp with solo speccing. I, paranoid of skill tree failure, did as advised, and am a classic mythic eld. There ya have it.. I am a conformist.

I think the only honest answer is 'I dunno'.

Mythic has made sweeping changes to skills and spec lines, without warning. As of now, my eld is full void, with an intention to go to 46 void and 25 or 26 light to get the AE mezzes up a bit, depending on how many points are left.

Full spec? You can't argue with a bolt that has a base damage of 309, and that's what the level 46 void bolt does ;). You won't get that sort of damage per shot at 2/3 spec. The level 44 AE DD from the void line has a base damage of almost 175, as well (yeah the highest one the mana ripple line hits harder, but there's no range).

I'd say 2/3-1/2 spec for more solo-ability and utility spells, full spec if you want max damage.
