First of all, the best two links I have found so far. I am printing these pages out.

http://www2.whidbey.net/coadey/upgrade.html

That is about upgrading doors. It explains how many units of wood are needed for each level upgrade, how many units of wood each type of wood contains. For example, 20 Rowan boards are 20 wood units. 20 Ebonwood boards are 1600 units. So to upgrade a door from level 2 to level 3 you would need either 1760 rowan boards, or you would need just over 20 ebonwood boards. Its cheaper to do it with the Rowan, but its a pain in the ass to carry all those boards.

This is all about repairing doors. I finally am starting to understand this stuff after reading these two pages!

That is a pretty good thread on seigecraft. Basically the first post is a guide and the rest of the thread is a bunch of comments on it. There are some inconsistencies, but a lot of good information.

That is a link to the trade skill forum. There is a LOT of bitching on there. Basically all the high level crafters think they are totally screwed. There are about 32746342343 threads all about the new proposed system of high level materials being dropped by monsters in the epic zone. The basic complaint is that to level your crafting skill beyond 800ish, you need these higher level materials. To get these higher level materials you need to be a level 45-50 pve player to go out into the epic zone and kill stuff. Mystic had stated that you could play Daoc as a crafter and not ever have to level up with killing monsters. Some people have spent tons of time on crafting and now feel they have to level up and fight in the epic zone. I'm not sure how much of a problem this is. These high level materials will not be sellable to NPCs. So if you arent a crafter, its worthless to you. Obviously, if anyone in our guild gets any of these materials (they aren't dropping yet, its just a proposed idea) we would give them to our crafters. What else are we going to do with them? There is also just a lot of bitching in general about the fact that even if you level up as high as you can, high level players are better off getting the superduper monster dropped armor and weapons than buying it from you. The best stuff should only be available from crafters.

Contained here-in is my multi-point view on Tailoring:

0. Armin is the Tailor Master by forge area in TNN

1. Tailors makes Cloth and Leather armor, no reinforced. Their primary customers are Mages and Nightshades. Secondary craft is Fletching which is capped at 75%. So if you are at 600 Tailor you are limited to 450 Fletching. Tailors are also used by Armorcrafters to make the base leather item for Scale-based armor.

2. Skill level: Hibernia char level vs min craft skill:

<< all smunched! should be a formatted as a table...sorry my posting skill is inadequate >>

Level Skill Cloth Leather
01 - 03 000 wool rawhide
04 - 07 100 linen tanned
08 - 12 200 brocade cured
13 - 17 300 silk hard
18 - 22 400 gossamer rigid
23 - 27 500 sylvan embossed
28 - 32 600 seamist imbued
33 - 37 700 nightshade runed

3. Max skill: I have seen skill as high as 900. 800 at TNN is not uncommon. Milestones: 500 can make Siege Craft parts. 650 consignments stop. 800 is Master.

4. Leveling: just like fighting, make stuff that cons yellow or even orange. red is likely that you will lose way too much material. blue is too easy. Things really slow down once you hit 500. Doing consignments expect a couple points an hour.

5. Powerleveling: simply make the cheapest, easiest items that con yellow/orange such as boots and gloves. I think yellow is optimum taking into account time and lose of material. Use /salvage if you are short on cash to conserve material or if not, sell it to the merchant for a huge loss, sucker. it is better to powerlevel in the first 50 for each Tier. Consignments pay better on the second 50. Once you get upwards of 700- 800 cost is in the platinum range to keep leveling yourself.

6. Consignments: if your short on cash, level via consignments. expect to make about 12% plus 1% bonus per quality point above 90. just walk up to Armin and whisper 'task'. Consigments are for the 130 NPCs in TNN and require a detailed map available online.

Best map I found and is missing just a few of the newer NPCs: http://senioronlineservices.com/daoc/TirNaNog.htm

Antaine is in front of Guardian Hall
Aghaistin is in the entrance of the Palace
Ailson is in front of the Mage hall
Blanche is in pub by Mage hall
Cleit is at dye stand by E gate
Harkin is behind Palace in natural area
Grainne is in Naturalist Hall
Guard Teador is in second tavern by 1st steps from E gate
Jarlath is on stairs in tavern by N gate
Kiley is in Ranger hall
Madarl is in Mage Hall
Nona is in Palace
Tegau is in house by 1st steps from E gate (Recharger)

7. Orders: taking orders requires a broadcast in TNN, include your current skill so customers know what u can make. Filling an order requires a nice spreadsheet with costs. Expect to be asked to make a suit of Silk minus the boots. Also expect that the customer cannot afford it. Items are made at cost to other guildees, and pro bono to low level guildees. 10% wholesale to ArmorCrafters, 20% to 30% retail to players; NPC merchants charge 52% over cost. Tips are also common.

This link is to a spreadsheet that covers EVERY trade craft for all 3 realms! http://www.kwyk.net/keltor/tradeskill.html

8. Tailor Nekkid! Materials are heavy. With only a 40 enc I am often running to the vault to swap material. Getting a STR buf will help. Being nekkid will help. When battle calls, don't forget to put on your silk jammies!

9. Secondary crafts. When you level in Tailoring, your skills in Cloth and Leather go up. Try to keep these skills within 10 or 20 of Tailoring. If needed, make entry-level Armorcraft items to raise the cloth and leather skill --- cheap and quick. Fletching raises Wood and Metal: make metal-based arrows.

10. Seige Craft - once you hit 500 in any craft, the siege craft parts are available to you. Tailors with 200 in metal can make Swing Harness, Ballista Trigger, Arm Cushions.

11. Quality: Player made quality is min 90% and goes to 100%. It seems quite inconsistent to me and totally random. Some very high level crafters will gaurantee min quality. By skill 500 and after having made at least 1000 items or perhaps even 2000 items, I had only crafted 1 item that was 100%...and happened to be for a fellow guildee.

As of this post these are my skill levels:

Tailor 597 / Cloth 590 / Leather 592
Fletcher 440 / Metal 455 / Wood 445

Very nice Mr. Grundy! I have some questions and stuff, but its 3:30am and I'm all sleepy. So I'll just say "Very nice Mr. Grundy!" and come back to this thread tomorrow. :D
