Bad restarts

Sporadically (sporadic enough that I forget about it between occurences) when I reboot my computer it will just shutoff instead of reboot. Then when I hit the power button the LED's come on for a second then turn off right away. At this point in the past I just unplug my computer from the back and let it sit for like 10 minutes then plug it back in and it brings me the BIOS. Everything is set ok there when it comes up so I just save and exit and then it boots ok after that.

Like I said, this is very sporadic and my comp hasn't had any other problems, like it's never just restarted or turned off on it's own like I thought would happen if it was heat or anything like that and performance is good. Any thoughts?

Yeah, could be problems with the power cord, or maybe your pc is getting too dusty (doubtful :p).

check if it's the same with another power cord.

It's probably power supply, I believe it is a 300 powering a AMD 2000+ with just a little overlock and my 6800 GT, just seems weird that only happens on reboot, runs fine anytime else.

Michael (my 6 year old son) has an XP2200+ w/512MB RAM - and a GeForce4 Ti4200... he has problems only on fresh boot (maybe reboots).

hmm, if it's a bfg gt, doesn't it need at least a 350-400 watt power supply to run the video card?
