So what would you go with.
Buy a new Motherboard but go for
a. 64bit processor
b. 400fsb processor
I'm having trouble deciding what to do atm. Granted it might be a month or two before I get around to redesigning my computer but I thought I'd get some outside opinions. :)

Both.
Athlon 64, without a doubt.
Athlon 64 3500+ & MSI nforce3 (939), roughly $400... (if you already have the RAM).

Intel is remarkably competitive here; while they normally get completely demolished by AMD in gaming performance, the margins are much closer this time around. At higher resolutions, the AMD-Intel gap would effectively disappear between most competitors.
For you WoW junkies (including me)

Are there many things out there currently that are supporting the 64bit processors?
all I know of was the Winxp 64bit.

You don't need a 64 bit OS or app to take advantage of the raw power.
Yeah, it'll be even better when that stuff is out & reliable.. but right now, that's all bleeding edge for early adopters.
The AMD64 screams even with normal XP (Home or Pro).

that's the mobo/processor combo i went with.
msi neo2 platinum nforce 3 mobo.
3500+ amd 64 socket 939
the mobo is really sweet and the live update feature makes updating the bios a breeze.

i love me some win2k, id rather install win2k over xp for personal use, but would probably go with XP for family and what not if i was to build them a machine now...

Don't bother - he never shows the graph showing the stablilty/exploding rate.

I liked Win2k over XP, but driver support for stuff I have is more stable and available for XP these days. I did resist XP for almost 2 years though.

Because there IS none.
If there was any evidence (other than your PURELY anecdotal) that AMD processors are less reliable... I'd post it - most definitely.
But you only have your perception - you won't even get me any repair rates from your company.

if you can point out the advantages of Win2K over XP, I can show you how XP will do that (or not do that) even better.

Alright ive been looking around and it looks like the AMD 64 3000 is about $140 which is about the what i like to pay for a CPU (well i like less but 150$ is ussually my CPU max) - the numbers arnt far off from the 3000-3500 - and no matter what id probably be doubling my WOW FPS given that I currently have an AMD XP2200
I have one corsair 3200 512 stick, and one 2700 512 stick, ive been sort of running at 333 bus, except that my chip runs at 266
So im thinking about getting:
AMD64 3000 140$
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-486&depa=1
ABIT "AV8" K8T800 Pro $114.00
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-181&depa=1
512MB DDR PC-3200C2PT $99.27
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-420&depa=1
$353 in my lap
My questions which I am think i know already:
Is a 350Watt power supply enough? I have an ATI9800Pro, and SoundBlaster Live 5.1, NIC card, and a DVD Drive, as well as a couple fans. 350watts should be enough unless i start adding more drives and other crap.
Could i save 100$ in the short term and run the 2700 and 3200 ddr ram with the AMD 64? - I think i can, but i am betting that running just the single 3200 stick would be better until I can get more, or ill just buy it now...

Only one big problem. (And one little problem)
That CPU (Socket 754) won't fit in that motherboard (Socket 939).
Don't go with that RAM.. the Athlon 64 doesn't really care about memory timings; Get twice the RAM (2x512MB):
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=1
I'd recommend getting a 400Watt power supply (reputable maker!); but, you won't break anything by trying your 350Watt.. I ran that for a long time with some high end stuff.

lol - doh, well those where just quick poking around examples for price - if i was making the purchase it would be triple checking every little item - thanks for pointing it out though :D
And i dont think i understand that ram - is that 2 512 sticks ? a gig for 90 bucks? If so thats freaking bad ass, it would be hard not to buy for that price, and then id be pimping with 1.5 gig!

Yup.. that's 2 512 sticks for 90$ large. :)
