You forgot to uncheck the version check box. Here's some quick instruction from wowvault:
1) Rename your Interface folder to something else.
2) Start game.
3) Go to char selection screen.
4) Hit Addons button and disable version checking.
5) Exit game.
6) Rename Interface folder back to normal.
7) Restart game. You're now done with TOC files, permanently

Actually all you needed to do is
2) Start game.
3) Go to char selection screen.
4) Hit Addons button and disable version checking.
No need to rename interface folder.

Umm. I unchecked Version compatibility but after I log into game I see the "Your Interface folder is out of date...press Delete to remove it or Exit to quit".

Go play DAoC in protest! :D
Nerf is when everything is working the way its described, but they lower the power of something because its not balanced.
Bug fix is when something is not working the way it was described, or supposed to work.
Like with Daoc savages. When they first came out, the description said they would sometimes doubleswing, and less frequently triple swing, and even less frequently quadruple swing. After a bunch of players took a ton of logs, they found out they were quadswinging way more than tripleswinging. When that was adjusted it was a bugfix. It may have lowered their overall dps, but it was still a bugfix.
They also took away their ability to use two handed weapons because they were just doing way too much damage. That was a nerf. They were designed to use 2 handed weapons, and there was no bug. But it was taken away to reduce the toon's power. That is the exact definition of a nerf.
I can do it with animists too.
At one point if animists placed their shrooms on a hill, the shroom would be bugged and would be invincible and the animist could set it on aggressive and go afk and level up. When that was adjusted it was a bugfix.
Animists were supposed to be helpful on raids because their shrooms could bust the "to-hit" code on ublar boss mobs so regular players could hit them harder. It said so in the toon's description and everything. It was intended to work that way and it did. But albs cried about it (even though their cabbies could do the same thing) so animists got a cap of 12 shrooms. That was a nerf.
In other words. If there is a "bug" and its "fixed" it is a bugfix. If there is no bug and a toon is just weakened cuz its too overflavored, its a nerf.
This has been a public service message from "Boom says stuff we all know anyway because he is stoopid."
Ok, I renamed my interface folder to "something else." Then I logged in but I don't have no addon button. See???

OR you can modify config.wtf:
Add this line to the bottom or change it from 1 to 0 if it's in there already:SET checkAddonVersion "0"

I didn't realize how much I depend on that stupid thing till it was gone!!
But I still can't find that floating counter that accidentally popped up once while I was trying to fix it yesterday.
It counted how much xp you were getting per hour and how long you'd played and estimated how long till you next levelled.
Where is that?

Are you talking about the counter that shows up when you hover the mouse pointer over the cosmos clock?

looks like they f'd up the change. damage shouldn't have changed aside from when using SotC, but something changed base damage too.
