I've seen so many posts on WoW forums that druids suck and all. Is this true? Can anyone shed some light on this that have played or is playing a druid?

Well, it depends on what you're looking for.

I've played my Druid to 46, and I really enjoy playing her in PvE. She's versatile, and a challenge to play in PvE, with a big bag of fun tricks to choose from. But she's no killing machine, that's for sure. I see posts on the Druid forums all the time saying how they can own this class and that class, but I've yet to see it myself. I guess if you're an extremely talented player, and you choose your fights carefully, a Druid could be fun in PvP; but their DPS is really low, so one on one PvP fights for Druids seem to be a matter of keeping yourself healed long enough to run the other guy out of mana or whittle away at him slowly. Sort of a tortoise and hare thing, with the Druid being the tortoise.

I think the Druid in WoW is sort of like a Bard in DAoC. Lots of utility, but not much damage output. The big differences are that in PvE, the WoW Druid can solo and is a lot of fun to play, unlike the DAoC Bard. And in group PvP, a good Bard is invaluable, whereas the WoW Druid is just so-so.

Yeah, I fought a druid in BB who was like 10 levels higher then me, I lost of course but never at any point did I feel like I was getting my ass kicked. I always felt like I was losing, sure but never like I was get the smack layed down on me. I bet druids will be a great group PvP class tho when battlegrounds come out, with that much utility they can do wtfever is need really.

hey Inez!

Druids are lacking for the most part. The strength is in their versatility so in 1v1 they can do very well but in high level grouping, people prefer to have classes that specialize in what they do such as tanking, range offense, melee offense, healing, etc. Druids are like minstrels. THey have a lot of utility but it's all exclusive. If you tank, you can't heal. If you stealth, you can't tank. The redeeming factor for druids in pvp is the root spam. However, root can be dispelled by priests, potion or spidersilk boot. I took a look at the druid caster version and their dps is pretty bad, worst then shaman. They can tank pretty well now with the armor factor improvement but they don't have all the neat style that high end warriors get. Theyr'e like hunter pets, just suck up damage and taunt.

ps, good druids can be a real pain to fight as a mage since they are immune to poly in forms, they can break our root, and they can root us over and over. oh and they can heal too.

Also they can spam their insta dot that countercast does nothing to.

Druids have as much utility as a priest, and they are just as rare. I'm leveling mine!

I agree from a mages stand point Druids are really tough. Shape shift to immune polly then spam that fast nuke, full heal and nuke away for the win.

Only chance I have against a druid is get to about 40% health, counterspell and hope I can kill him in 4 seconds.

Also that Mark of wild buff rocks.

well played druids are tough. they are prolly one of the best kiters in the game.

root, spam dd, change form to get some distance, faerie fire so i can't restealth, rinse repeat.

the druids that think they can change to bear form and beat me in melee are the ones that die quickly.
