Norwegians Confused by Bush Salute

President Bush's "Hook 'em, 'horns" salute got lost in translation in Norway, where shocked people interpreted his hand gesture during his inauguration as a salute to Satan.

I got a laugh out of this when I saw Bush and his wife doing this on the news coverage of the inauguration. Just for some background, Ozzy does this in concert and this wack job preacher on some MTV or VH1 show was saying this was the sign of the devil. Yep, Hook 'em Horns. Not quite sure why an ivy league boy would use it, but it's certainly not the sign of the devil ... as far as anyone knows, that is. ;) But, you know what they say .... He will rise from the world of politics ..... mwuahahahahahaha .....

Well, apparantly in Norway it is known as the sign of the devil. Which is why people in Norway were freaked out by it.

I heard that in England the "thumbs up" sign means "up yours." Also our "ok" handsign (where you make a circle by connecting your thumb to your index finger) means "asshole" in some countries. Hand signs mean different things in different countries.

I'm sure that once the people in Norway were told that their devil worship handsign means "Go longhorns" here in America, they were like, "Ahh, ok, cool. No prob then."

Not just in Norway is it known as the sign of the devil. It was a american(catholic?) priest that was accusing Ozzy of using the sign of the devil to lure his audience into the service of Lucifer. And no matter what it means, kids at any rock concert doing that arent thinking "Go Longhorns".

1) I bet Bush knew EXACTLY what the hand sign meant. He was signalling his worshippers....er...I mean followers....er...I mean republicans that all was well and the plan is proceeding on schedule.

I started a satan worshipping club in college called "Lucifer Death" and we would print out flyers on my friends roommates printer because we didn't like him so we used all his ink and paper for the devil while he was out at the christian club meetings. Then we would post them around the dorms and anger many people. Our club was based on porn, beer, and video games. Pretty sweet club if you ask me.
