Bush has actually been really cool about the tsunami. He is approving buttloads of money for the victims. Considering that lots of the victims are muslims and hate us, I think we really rock for helping them out so much.

The Lord Jesus Christ brought the tsunami to punish the Muslims for following Allah and being sinners. PRAISE BE GOD!

Jesus doesn't punish. He loves.

God punishes sometimes, maybe he did it.

It's sad that a few hard core muslims are claiming this is gods punishment on those in that area. They claim god targeted the resorts (hey, I guess all those fishermen and villages wiped out were just collateral damage) because that is where sinners and infidels were. :(

Now aid workers are being threatened in some areas. :(

Knowing how ignorant Jimmy Swaggart and Jerrry Falwell are, I bet they are telling their congregations much the same. If not, you just know they are thinking it. Muslims aren't the only hard core religious fanatics. Ours are just constrained more by society.

Ya cause the society here frowns apon strapping bombs on women and children and having them go detonate themselves in busy bus stations. But over there they accept it and think "O well, that's them WACKY fundamentalists at it again!! hehehehe!!" O ya, and our society is constraining Jimmy Fallwell to the point that he cannot fly airplanes into buildings.

Deleted my reply. Not worth going into.

Of course in america, they're more clever. Sin City is in the middle of whats probably the most natural disaster-proof place in north america, and casinos are in the hands of fuzzy-wuzzy nature-luving indians. :p

Places where gawd-fearing americans can go, and not be smited. Well, maybe not -one should never underestimate the almighty - but hes gonna have to work for it :D

Just to put some perspective on this, when Christianity had been established for 1300 years (as Islam has been now), it was just finishing up on the Crusades, and getting ready for the witch-hunting, inquisition, and wars of reformation. In a century or two, mass-conversion as a front for imperialistic genocide had come into style, displacing the fun of witch-hunts in the upper social stratas.

I don't know if it's worth responding to Roscoes, but Islamic extremists generally favor the hard-line anti-female interpretation of the Quran, and thus don't see women as worthy of the job of suicide bombing. If I remember my history correctly, 1327 was the year of the Children's Crusade, in which several hundred southern European children drowned marching into the Meditteranean on their way to free Israel from the heathens, believing god would part the waters for them.

History is bound to repeat itself. Religious extremism has cost countless lives of Christians and to Christians. As a remarkably similar monotheistic, afterlife punishment/reward based faith, can one truly expect Muslims not to make the same mistakes as Christians? A natural disaster in fourteenth century Europe would surely have been attributed to God; and if it occured in Spain, Sicily, the Balkans, or any spot close to Islamic civilization, they would surely have been implicated. There's no reason to bash Islam for the irrational and illogical actions of a few of it's really out-thre adherents; especially when Christianity is implicated in comparison.

That's becasue in the 14th century they had no idea what made disasters happen. It goes farther back then that, as in acient times the gods were blamed for everything. Today we have a better understanding of how the earth works.

As for mass forced conversions, both sides are guilty. That was the in thing way back then.

Today we have a better understanding of how the earth works.
You assume they have the same education as we do, and the same access to press that we do. You also assume that the media that reported this is not making a selective report of a few whack-jobs that may or may not represent the majority.
