View Full Version : Fix for Voodoo prob, I think. Techies please help!!!
DeathDemon, who worked for 3dfx and was bought by nvidea, recommended this site for me. Apparently some ex-3dfx employees are running this site to help voodoo users or something like that. Anyway, I posted my problem there on this thread and got what seems to be a knowledgeable response. The only problem is, I'm not sure that I entirely understand the response. Can someone walk me through it real slow?

you unzipped the Omega drivers into a folder to install them right?
Well, make a copy of that folder before you start any renaming.
Then do the renaming he's calling for in the new folder.
well, i trust youve still got those omega drivers? well were play with them a little bit. v5 drivers work backwards with the v3, so were just gonna rename a file or 2 here and there. all you need to do take 3dfx32v3.dll out of the folder, omega folder, take 3dfx32vs.dll and rename it to 3dfx32v3.dll. try that out by reinstalling the drivers. it may come up wtih a box that says its not written for your hardware, cuz theyre v5 drivers, and it will ask you if you want to continue, say yes. that forces driver installation. if that doesnt solve the problem, then do the above process with 3dfxv3.vxd, remove it, and rename 3dfxvs.vxd to 3dfxv3.vxd. then reinstall the drivers agian. that should work. according to your post you siad that omega drivers solve it for a v5, then using v5 drivers should solve it for v3 as well. this is assuming the game your playing is d3d? if that doesnt help, then im sorry, we'll try some more stuff. good luck!
