Just caught this on the notes for the 1.43 test patch.

- We removed range restriction from pets in Defend mode. Now they can go after archers autonomously.

If you snipe me, you better kill me on that first shot because you are gonna have a level 24 Boompuppy rushing your ass. And he is gonna be way pissed that you are shooting his daddy. You can start to shoot the Boompuppy, but that just gives me a chance to heal, and gives my party a chance to follow the Puppy to your location. Or you can keep shooting me, but while I instaheal and rush to a safe location you will have a pissed off puppy biting and stunning you.

Time to make a new macro - /macro sniper /say FOLLOW MY PET TO THE SNIPER!!!!

My Puppy soloed a yellow augy yesterday (yellow to me at 32, probably purple to him at 24). I wasn't using the pet to pull, because the horseys all cluster together in that pond and you need a ranged thingy to pull. So I was using poison to pull and sending out the puppy when the horsey was halfway to me (just to slow it down and let the poison work a little more basically). So this one time the horse is running at me and the puppy is biting it and before it gets to me, it turns around and starts hitting the puppy!!! I was shocked! How the heck could my level 24 puppy hit that horse hard enough to draw aggro over my poison (my poison does 30 damage every 5 seconds for 30 sec). So I decide to let the puppy go at it a while just to see what happens. Eventually it gets low on life and I start healing. I expect the heals to draw aggro. If I heal slowly, I can keep the mob on the puppy for a while, but eventually I should draw the aggro. But the horse stays on the puppy. I was freaked. My poison ran out, so I had done 180 poison damage and had done several heals, and yet the puppy still had done enough damage to keep the aggro! Then the horsey died and my puppy ran up to me all proud with his tail wagging. I still had over half my heal juice left. I guess daoc is like D&D with the dice rolling, and my puppy musta got some really good rolls there. But just the fact that it was possible was pretty neat. Not many level 24 players can solo something that cons yellow to me at 32 without me running out of heal juice. That isnt the most efficient way to hunt, because it took over 30 seconds to make the kill (I can usually kill a yellow in 20 seconds or so I would guess) and I was just standing there when I could have been bapping the horsey. But it was just pretty cool to see. Also, I got about 1.7 mil exp for the kill. I soloed some yellows with no pet and got a range of 1.5 mil to 2 mil exp (I guess it depends on the level of the yellow).

Only 38 more bubbles till I get the big pets. :D Anyone know what they cast? If my pet casts stun and his self bafs, the big pet must get something pretty cool. After that its just a few more levels till I get the group heal, then its all about the buffs. Omg, I love this class!! My heals rule, my buffs own, and my puppy loves me!

"My Puppy soloed"

That would imply he did it by himself.

But we get your point. :D

Problem is, as you get higher in level, the disparity between you and your pet gets worse. :(

I don't play a druid or an enchanter so I ask...

If Mythic made Druid pets any better would it make Enchanters obsolete?

They are giving love to pets.

All pets.

I would think this would make the enchanter better, since, they basically are their pet. :)

Yes these fixes are across the board but there is no mention of improving melee ability or anything of that nature. My question basically stemed from Roo's statement. I assume that even with these changes the druid pet will still be gimpy at high levels just a little more responsive. If that was changed would Enchanters be obsolete?

I think Druid's pets are 75% of your level. When I was 32 my pet was 24. That's seems to work out with the math and stuff. So yeah, Roo is right, the pets kinda get further away. When I was level 12, my pet was level 9 and was blue to me. Now my pet is green. Eventually it will be grey. Right now my pet is 8 levels below me, when I hit 50, it will be 12 levels below me. :/ Grey for sure.

Still, having an extra level 38 melee in RvR is a nice bonus. In the RvR last night I set my pet after some grey mids. If the pet is green to me, that means he was at least orange to the mid. :D

One of the other realms (don't remember if its albs or mids) gets a pet that's either 90% of their level, or 100% of their level. I don't remember for sure. If Druid pets were boosted to 90%, that would be pretty damn sweet. Level 50 druids would have a level 45 pet. My pet now would be level 29 (I hit 33 tonight :D ).

Does anyone know what exactly they are planning to do with pets? I mean, I read about them now having the greater range, when set on defense, but I have a feeling Mystic has more in mind. I keep hearing that they plan on giving love to pets, but no real specifics. Is this range thing it?

Also does anyone know what exact spells the pets cast at their different sizes? I know that my pet (second to largest) casts some sort of confuse/stun/mezz kind of thing and some sort of self buff. It doesn't really matter I guess, but I'm just sort of curious.

All the other straight pet classes (Enchanter, Spiritmaster, and Cabalist) pets are 88% of there lvl (Enchanter used to be below that). I think the Thuregist pets are equal to there lvl but they arent really pets, more like dots because any aggro they build also builds up on the caster too so if a Thuregist sends 5 pets in and nukes he is building up a hella amount of aggro and his pets only last for like 10 seconds. It works out i think.

"having an extra level 38 melee in RvR is a nice bonus"

That was my point in talking about this with Muri the other night.
