I am wanting to do some Seige Engine Erection (perverts, have fun) Sunday. Who all is with me!

Basically, I will have it planned, where we will go is PLANNED to be Midgard... but not sure if we want to or not.

I want to be able to get a feel for the range of the weapon, and I would LIKE to test the effectiveness of it, esp. vs Keep Doors.

When doing some tests tonite, I found that I could not shoot the door of the ammo fort at Midgard without being aggroed by the gaurds (wow, they designed the fortress correctly!) so I am not positive we can test shoot the door of the ammo fort.

I am willing to take suggestions, but if none are forthcoming, I will decide.

Same with the time, I am willing to take suggestions, but if I don't get any set time, as soon as I can talk enough of you into it, we can do it.

I have 9 Ballista Bolts on hand, so that's 9 shots. If we want more (for more ppl to have experiance shooting a ballista) we will either have to journey out en masse to Crunchy, or some of us can get some beforehand.

Journeying out might not be a bad idea... we can test the weapon on the mile forts.... and any enemies that happen to be nearby..... altho that is infiately more risky.

Let me know, I have had these ballista parts for about a month now, I just want to USE THEM. :)

Oh, thought I should mention.

ALL levels are invited (safety not insured, hehe) because even a level 1 can load, aim and shoot a seige engine.

Oh, and even a level 1 can lump some supplies to the site. :)

This sounds like a good way to get out and see the countryside a bit. If I can make it I'll be there.

Two questions.

1. Where can I buy a ballista bolt.

2. Is there a good website that explains crafting and using seige weapons.

You can buy a ballista bolt in our Ammo Fort.

And for the other... not really. Mythic has a write-up that is fairly good. Making it is just like making any other crafted item... it's using it that is tricky.

Basically, only one can control a seige weapon at a time, and you seize control by targetting the seigecraft and doing /control. You then have a box pop up with 4 functions you can perform. Load, Aim, Fire, ....

Damnit, I don't remember.

I know they are out there, I will find a link and post. :) Prolly explain it better anyway. :)

I'd like to come. :) But I might not be around, depending on what time this shindig is going to start.

if you want to just try this Bab we can do it in our own realm, the doors for each realms milefort can be attacked by anyone i believe. Going to midgard sounds cool, we could just use the Hib Mileforts as a backup.

Well, minor change of plans. We used the Ballista last night.

A fresh one (using Elm, again) will cost 32g 79s if we buy all the parts that can be bought. (This was from Innis, which didn't sell Cables, which was fine, since I can make those. :) ) If we get someone to make the Trigger (Tailor), Gimbal (Armorsmith), and Spring Arms (Weaponsmith) we can drop the price down to 24g 28s (assuming they do it for cost, which I usually end up tossing a gold or so their way for the effort)

That is, of course, assuming we can get to Crunchy for bolts, I only have 3 on me.

If we do a Cat, I don't have that all worked out (prolly should, tho), and we would need catapult stones from Crunchy.

If we do a Ram, I again don't have that all worked out, but we don't need anything from Crunchy. :)

Sorry we didn't get a chance to pass the Ballista around, was slightly hectic... Hopefully we can do something in a more controlled environment.

Thoughts, anyone?
