is next time we have 100 some odd players attacking, we go straight for a relic keep instead of filtering out one fort at a time and spreading thin.
Then defend since it's easier. :)

two problems with your plan.
1) Each fort you still own causes a Keep Lord strength mob, plus a routine of soldiers (group of 3, I think) at the site of each Relic fort.
Can you say freaking deadly?
2) You were talking, I assume, of defending the Relic fort? Well you can't take the Relic Fort. Only the relic, from the fort.
Besides, IF we manage to make the push and get towards the Relic Fort, Mids will prolly do what we did when the Albs made the push at Mid's Relics...
GET TO THE WALL!! NINJA LOOT THE RELIC!!!
hehe, we would be better off holding forts, having the relic bearer get to a fort, trade the relic to someone... send a false group out.... then another... then the real group. Move the relic back along the route from fort to fort, trading up when we get at forts. Then when the way is clear, get to the Portal Fort, and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, we become insta-targets, hehe.

That's the point: It doesn't help to take their forts - just go straight for Relic so it's not so buffed up.
And I'm sorry, but a bard, with speed... yowza.. by the time the theft happens, if they don't already have a force on our wall (to our portal keep) -- they're not going to catch that bard.
We should have a force go get the relic... and one at the wall.
Two bards, sprinting, one with Endurance song, with one speed song...
Can you say "Go speed racer!" ?

maybe I wasn't clear..... lemme try again.
If we (Hibs) own Dun Scathing, for example, there is a mob at Dun Dagda (our relic keep) named Lord Scathing, with some cronies, I think.
If Alb, or Mid own Dun Scathing, that Lord and his routine aren't there - so if we own our forts, the relic keeps are stronger... if they own our forts, the relic keeps are weaker.
Ohhhh, so if we go straight for the relic keep, there will be like 8 superbaddies with the power of keeplords there. If we take out the other keeps first, they won't be there.
Oh man, that is so cool! Now it all makes sense and stuff. So taking keeps like has a real purpose! I thought it was just for fun and so we could neener neener neener at the Albs and Mids.

Originally, it was for neener neener neener... and people did what people do best.
They bitched, they moaned, and the occasional rational thought poked through.
"Keeps mean nothing!" they said. And what should they mean?
Well, Mythic's answer, which I personally like, was to do that Relic Keep change. They also upped (rather significantly) the number of roaming guards. What that does, in effect, is create an area of "control". Controlling those keeps controls the roaming patrols, and in effect, controls that area.
What that means, hehe, is some PRIME exp/hunting grounds can be lost when the enemy takes that fort from you. :)
The only thing that bothers me about the system it might doom a weaker realm. If a weak realm loses its relics what chance does it have?

Point, Match, Gorkeru!
But in theory, there shouldn't BE a "weaker realm".... they should be balanced..... in theory.
We'll see how it all shakes down, tho, eh? :) Let's just try and make sure it's not OUR relics that get taken.... and if they do get one, stop them at 1. :)

After a faction takes a relic, their frontier gets significantly weaker. They state that all the guards are all hungover from the celebration or yet still celebrating and others just quit all together. Therefore your frontier gets weaker after you take someones relic.

One is for Melee strength, one is for Magic strength. Each one offers a +1 bonus to each realm, so when you have your relic, you are at 0.
Make sense?
