- ALL "sleep" type spells (mesmerize, stun, root) now can be cast only once per minute per target. This should alleviate some player concerns about being "chain-stunned". You can still cast the spell as normal, however, it will have no effect on a player if he has had that same effect on him in the previous minute.
Right now, if I'm soloing, I'll throw a shout at a monster and then mez him (28 sec mez). Each subsequent mez lasts about half the time as the one before it. So I can get about 3 in before I have to melee. Do you think this means that I won't be able to do that anymore? Or does that just apply to PvP? Any ideas?
<edit> Nevermind....I found out. Currently, it's for everything. This sucks ass. If that patch goes in as is, then if I stun a monster, and someone hits it, I can't stun again for another minute. That's absurd. It's the equivalent of a one-minute recast timer. Bah. I'm getting screwed. Mez is one of the bard's most useful tools.

Alli, that's also how we got killed in the RvR tonight.
we're almost to Crunchy (our fort that our realm re-took) and suddenly we run past a group of dwarves and trolls. I figured we may be able to speed blast past them.
Uh uh. I was stunned and helpless. Dead meat.
Now, if I had more hit points and was hit and able to fight, they could "chain stun" me. As soon as I'd get hit, they'd stun me again. I'd be totally useless. The bug patch is supposed to fix that.
You should have a tank with you at all times anyway :)

Yeah Alli in the end its better for realm balance, insta stun is one nasty nasty spell.

Oh yeah...I totally understand how it's better for RvR. I just wish it didn't apply to monsters in the realm. I've been having to solo a lot due to a lack of good parties (though since I hit level 10 I'm getting more and more offers to party) and I can barely beat blues. Once the patch goes in, I'm not sure I'll be able to do that. XP has been da p00p.
But, my character isn't really made for soloing, and it all may change tomorrow. I'm not gonna worry about it much, I guess.
And MOrety, I could have sworn you ran us right into the middle of that fight on purpose! Haha! I was stuck to you and then all of the sudden I was just standing still in the middle of a bunch of trolls! I was freaking out! when I realized what was going on, I tried to run, but then....blammo! "You were hit for 280 damage!" That could kill 3 of me! :rolly:
It was so funny. Boom was going to come and rez me, but someone came along and did it before Boom could get there, and then the guy ran off! I was all alone and scared. I guess I didn't see Crunchy, cause there were some guys fighting in that direction and that's all I saw. So I ran back the way we came. Then I got hit by an arrow and was down again! An invader came by and saluted my dead body. I was lmao!
And then Boom says "Where are you?" I told him I was waiting for him to rez me but I guess he didn't see when I said I was down again. Hehe. Didn't matter...it was funny as anything. I was yelling for help and all these guys kept passing by and I thought "Hrmph, no time to rez a lowly level 10, huh?" Then I realized they were invaders. Hehe.
So I'm looking around and then I see it! Crunchy! OMG! I had been so close! I ran the wrong way!! I autoed. p00p. Hehe. Oh well. I got to see the frontier, and get killed by invaders, not once...but twice!! And it only cost me a pony ride!! W00t!! Big fun!! :D

Hmmmm..... Not exactly what I wanted to see when I finally get my connection back after it being down for a week. I have an idea about how to get around that Alli but I want to test it out first. If it works I'll be sure to let you all know. :)

Remember there is a differance between Stun and Mezz, the big complaint has been Stun. They would Stun you. Then if you are hit, by anything, it does not release. Then they wouild mezz you, while stunned, to get that stuck on you. Then they woucl chain cast Mezz.
Not sure if Bards get Stun, but changing to that tactic might help... dunno.
And, yes, if your character is not built to solo, you won't have much luck... but anytime any LoL or DotF is on, you should always have a group.
Look me up, and ask Jobius. Even at level 10 you are a valuable asset to a level 30+ that wants to level.

Thanks Roo and Babs. I really like playing with you higher level guys. I get great xp and loot. :) Though I don't get a chance to do much but play a song and do a bit of healing. When I'm with people my own level, I get a chance to practice multi-tasking: mez an add or two, memblur the pull to get him off the puller, heal this guy and that guy, re-mez an add whose mez has worn off (though I guess I won't be able to do this after the new patch goes in :( ) throw some more heals around. It's very busy, and good practice for me so I can learn to switch tasks quicky. Right now, I mess up a lot with the quickbar. And I'll need to get better at that. :)
Though, I hafta say, most groups I find myself playing with at my level don't really take advantage of all my skills. They just want to pull, kill, pull, kill without any discussion on tactics. So I'll mez an add, and someone runs up and baps it. I keep saying "Don't hit the mezzed adds!" But they don't listen, and people die. That really annoys me when I can make the difference between a successful kill and a slaughter and people are too gung-ho to listen. I mean, they seem to think I can just stand there and heal 3 people all day long while they get beat on by adds. And then get annoyed when I hafta rest afterwards.
That's why I've been soloing the last few days. I just got annoyed with the silly groups. I suppose it will get better as people get more experienced. And I'll need to be a bit more vocal about what I can and can't do. :)
Like the other day, I kept telling this group not to hit the mezzed adds. And this one person kept doing it. I just couldn't keep up with the healing. So, I didn't heal her. She learned. :)

Oh...oh....somthing I didn't consider about the mez changes in the upcoming match.
Situation: Working in a group, we get adds. I cast an AE mez to control the adds. If the tanks can't kill them before the mez wears off, all the adds are on me. Result: dead bard.

Well there are some good suggestions in that thread hopefully they can do something to compensate.
Mez/Root/Stun Changes
Internet Relations Manager Sanya Thomas posted the following note on the Camelot Herald. Within she discusses some recent changes to mez/root/stun.
Yesterday's change on Pendragon had larger scale ramifications than we intended, so we're going to try another version of the code.
In PVE combat, it will work the way it has in the past.
In RVR combat, and against realm-aligned NPCs (ie guards), the change will still be in effect.
Just to be absolutely clear, the new code as described in yesterday's patch to Pendragon will ONLY apply to RVR.
Log into Pendragon and try this version out!

If it is only for RvR that'll make this bard VERY happy. My mezz now as it stands can mezz mobs for almost a minute, :)

Okay, so lemme see if I understand.
Root sticks you in place, but you can still bap or cast spells, and if you get hit by anything you are unrooted.
Mez sticks you in place, and you can't even bap or cast spells, and if you get hit by anything you are unmezzed.
Stun sticks you in place, you can't bap or cast spells, and if you get hit by anything it doesn't effect the stun, but stuns only last a few seconds.
Is that right?

And they are the only one that gets AE Stun and AE Mezz as instacast spells.

OMG!! I wish my mez was instacast. :( That would have saved my booty a million times already when I was getting it kicked.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that evel a heal spell with break mez.
Yeah its very powerful since we really have no way to stop it and 6 secs is long time if your getting beat on. Its enough time for the Middies to kill our casters/healers while the rest watch hopelessly. To have Stun which can not be broken and then have it as an insta cast is crazy powerful.
But the great thing is that we have been able to hold our own the last two nights (mainly because of our numbers), just imagine if the latest patch goes forth. I think we are already bucking the trend. So is Hibernia destined to be THE force on Pellinor? :)

Heals are supposed to break it... one reason they like the bard's healing chant in RvR.
But there has been some experimentation that not all mezz's are equal - not 100% sure on the results, but I remember some statments/whining that some realms mezz's were unbreakable by heal/attack/time, and others were breakable by sneezing.
*shrug*
As apparent from the recent patch/patch change, this is something Mythic is at least looking at. So maybe it will balance out, who knows.
Try it and see. :)
