A-rod isn't a cheater. He was simply doing what he felt he could do in order to win. This is part of the game and theres reasons why rules are in place to prevent things like that from effecting the game. It's baseball, the greatest game in the world and theres so many aspects to the game it's endless. The rule book is thick and the umpires called it perfectly. Every player does little things to try and help there team win. For instance, baserunners will run in front of the shortstop when he is trying to field a ground ball, it's all legal unless the baserunner touches the ball or the shortstop and if he does he is out automatically. You see the Yankees got penalized for that whole thing, A-rod was called out and Jeter was placed back on first, but if A-rod didn't do anything Jeter would have been on second so they lost a base because of it.
Swifty_Johnson
10-20-2004, 01:27 PM
Yes, but you can clearly see him aiming to knock the ball out ,then he acted like
"What, me? I was just running, honest."
He knew what he did was wrong, he did it anyway.
Swifty
He's a cheater. If you missed it, it should be on the sports news today. Even in slow motion so you can't mistake it.
GGooo Sox.

So MLB umpires do not watch instant replay of the event? I am really impressed they got both calls correct.
On the replay it looks like Mickey Mouse's lily while big fat cartoon glove is smacking down at the ball. Looked kinda gay. He got called out for being gay.
Roscoes_C&W
10-20-2004, 02:31 PM
Yes I watched the game. But I'm not quick to say someone is a cheater because they did what they thought they could pull off in order to win an important game. This is sports, these are athletes, they are paid alot of money to win and they often do iffy shit in order to win. These aren't moral leaders, they are athletes. Shit goes down all the time, just a question of if they get caught or not.
Morety
10-20-2004, 02:37 PM
Yeah Dape. Not like the second baseman missed the ball, then stepped on the bag with his glove behind his back while the shortstop picked the ball up and put it in his glove behind him or anything.
If that happened to me and I got called out, I'd be pissed.
I'm quick to say someone is a cheater when it's so obvious. You would have to be pretty stupid or one of those people that just say the oposite to piss people off to say A-Rod didn't cheat. BTW he got caught and too bad the first baseman didn't beat him senseless and teach him a lesson. I like what they did to cheaters in the old west. Shot them or hung them.

Ya well you act like your teams players shit don't stink. Believe me, they are all trying to pull of some shit all the time. Just cause A-rod got caught doesn't make him a cheater. He just wants to win, big deal.
Just what I thought. Some one who just likes to argue has answered.
:stupid:
cheat--1 a : to practice fraud or trickery b : to violate rules dishonestly
You too funny Roscoe, you admit he cheated then say he's not a cheater. It was not done by accident, he aimed at the glove and hit it.
Roscoes_C&W
10-20-2004, 03:16 PM
I admit he did what he thought he could pull off in order to win. I don't think it's a big deal like red sox fans are making it. They are all like "FUCKIN AROD IS A FUCKIN CHEATER ASSHOLE, FUCK AROD HE SHOULD BE KICKED OUT, FUCKIN CHEATER" and I am simply the voice of reason to all the rabid Red Sox fans who are so wrapped up in whatever the Yankees do all the time that they cannot think realisticly. Throwing intentionally at a batter is also against the rules but that rule gets broken all the friggin time. If a pitcher uses an illegal substance on his hat while pitching or a batter uses a corked bat then I would consider that person a cheater. But if a player breaks the rules while running the base path then it's not a big deal cause that shit happens all the time just like pitchers throwing at batters heads.

rofl. thats perfect, an instant classic. I agree with what roscoes said earlier tho. If a-rod hadnt' been called out, that would have been like, one of the smartest baseball plays for baserunner EVER. But he got called out and now he's just a shmuck. I see lil difference between what he did at first, and what many have done to charge over the catcher in order to knock the ball loose. I honestly wonder if even gayrod knew of the rule, as the rule is not in the official handbook, it's in a booklet that further details the rulebook.
And no, MLB umpires do not get benifit of instant replay. Like the announcers said tho, there has been a huge change in last few years of umpires getting together and making the right call. At one time managers bitched about umpires confering to the other umpires to reverse a call. I know in some lil league it's against the rules to change an already made ruling, and those coaches of 12yr old kids get real ticked off if ya try and get the call right. Oh and.. i doubt MLB will ever use instant replay, it's national pastime and the game already slow enough.

The fact is that it hasn’t happened here in 20 years so get over it. If you happen to live here...please move!
Michigan has been lucky enough to host a number of events ‘to date’ that have gone off without a hitch, which gives us the opportunity to host the following:
2004 Ryder Cup (world event – no incidents)
2005 MLB All Star Game
2006 Super Bowl XL
2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships
2008 WIBC Championship Tournament
AAU Junior Olympic Games
PGA Championship
2009 NCAA Men's Final Four
We have had numerous championships since 1984 without these ‘riots’ you claim WILL occur (Red Wings, Pistons, Shock, Michigan, Michigan State, etc.) so once again…you know nothing. We in Michigan welcome the challenge of showing other large sports markets that we can host 'World Class' events without incident; and we will continue to do so in spite of idiots like you. A city can, and has, corrected its mistakes of the past...
Gee...I wonder what Jimmy Kimmel and Rick Riley think about their incorrect assumptions about the Pistons Championship and Ryder Cup event. Once again...they were WRONG.
See you at the All Star game!!!

Chances are more than fair that there would be burning of boston and a bit of rioting if detriot city won a couple championships from different sports in same year.Ando let me follow that quickly with that you have no clue what you are talking about. First off none of you live in Detroit nor have any of you been here when we do win championships, so basicly you are all talking out of your ass (excluding Uglywolf).
It is quite interesting when we do win. People are extremely nice to eachother (something very uncommon for Detriot). The city is just one huge party and the cops don't get involved. It is actully a nice break from the normal "Don't make me kick your ass" attiude that you normally have to have to get along in the City.
Also everyone looks back to the year the tigers won as a example of how Detriot acts when we win a cup. This is a completely false way to judge our city. No one remembers that the City hand been in a heat wave for a week or 2 before that event, and that because of the heat tempers were already running high. It was the climate mixed with the gathering of people that caused that riot, not just the people alone.
Before the select few of you decide to pass judgement on my city why don't you take the time to learn the facts so I don't have to get involved in a crappy sports thread to defend my home.

because argument is the essence of sports. If we don't argue and try to get our point across then what's the point? If we all sit here and stare at the screen and not tell anyone else how we feel and hope that they feel the same way than what's the point? The whole point of sports is an argument, a confrontation, david vs goliath, good vs evil. It's a big giant argument and apathetic fans make sports boring.

I don't hate Boston, I don't hate any team. This was a bad world series, last years world series between the Yankees and Marlins was really good all kinds of clutch plays and clutch hits. The year before between the giants and the angels was amazing. The yera before that between the yankees and diamondbacks was amazing too, came down to the final inning of the 7th game and a huge clutch hit one it all. The year befor ethat when it was the yankees and the mets was good too, all kinds of crazy shit happened and I am not a fan of any of those teams besides the Angels and they were all great world series. This world series was an absolute bore, unless you are a fan of bad fielding and bad base running. There weren't any clutch hits besides 1 that was slightly clutch from Belhorn in game 1 but it really wasn't a high pressure situation so wasn't all that clutch. There weren't any great plays unless you think ManRam falling on his ass in left field and letting the ball bounce off his glove is great, or that third baseman booting the ball around the infield is great. This world series was totally shitty man, admit it, you know it, it sucked.
