View Full Version : Gotta love dem conservatives.
I'm trying to find the correct name for it . . . this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. . . . I've never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I'm gonna be blunt and plain; if one ever looks at me like that, I'm gonna kill him and tell God he died.
Jimmy Swaggart on homosexuals. He advocates killing them then lying to God about it.
What??? You think my thread title is inflammatory? Why? You think liberals would say stuff like this?

Better hope Boom isn't Jimmy Swaggart.
The title isn't inflammatory Boom, it's plagerism.

No it's not.
It's satire.

And Boom, one seriously delirious right-wing nut job does not equal a retarded decision by a school system to oust someone for just hanging a picture of a sitting president next to former presidents.

Oh, the old Satire escape clause.
Wasn't Swaggert the target of Hustler and he sued and Flint used the Satire defence? Did it work?
Swifty
Look up plagiarism. This isn't it. Plagiarism the act of presenting someone else's ideas/writing as if it were your own. Here I am clearly referencing your thread, not pretending this is my original idea. This thread is parady or satire.
Anyway, back to the topic. Here is Jerry Falwell blaming Americans for 9/11.
I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America, I point the finger in their face and say: you helped this happen."
Gotta love dem conservatives!!!!
So Swifty, do you see my point? Do you understand how unfair and absurd it is that every time a liberal does something wrong you insinuate that its a "liberal" idea and not just a stupid idea?
If you don't get it yet, I can continue with this.

Rooster, I think the point is that Swifty's thread titles are purposely inflammatory.

Boom?
Do you take everything so serious? I was just poking some fun, but hey you want to keep going fine, I can play that game too.
Oh wait, you really don't think conseratives do this, so you are being disingenuous again aren't you?
Swifty

Agreed, but in both cases they are acts of stupid people. It is unfair to point to either of those acts and say, "oh boy, look at those (liberals/conservatives)"
He didn't change enough text.
Its not about changing text. Seriously, you clearly don't understand what plagiarism is. Trust me, this isn't it.
Wasn't Swaggert the target of Hustler and he sued and Flint used the Satire defence? Did it work?
You are totally confused. That case was about defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. It had nothing whatsoever to do with plagiarism. But, as an aside, Flint won by a unanimous vote of the Supreme Court. That case was closer to what you were doing when you were making up fake Kerry quotes for your sig. Although what you were doing would not have been allowed by the Supreme Court. The court found that no one who read Flint's article would really think Swaggart said those things, so it wasn't really defamation. Your fake quotes weren't clearly jokes, they were defamation.

Never said it had to do with plagiarism, all I know is they printed some nasty stuff about him and he sued, and they used the satire defence.
Your fake quotes weren't clearly jokes, they were defamation.
Actually, they were clearly jokes.

I'm glad you learned something from these forums. You really like the word disingenuous. I'm glad I was able to teach it to you. You aren't using it correctly, but at least you are using a nice new word.
You were being disingenuous when you argued for many days that Kerry was a traitor despite the fact that you never really believed Kerry was a traitor. You were lying to us. We all thought you believed Kerry was a traitor (because that is what you were saying). I am not being disingenuous here. Everyone reading this knows exactly what I believe. There is no deception involved. My satire is clearly satire. It is perfectly obvious which of my comments are being made tongue in cheek.

Again you are wrong.
I used it as satire to your comment about Bush, so I wasn't being disingenuous either.
Swifty

And it's a good thing you are typing too, it's tough to talk with your tongue in your cheek. :D

Satire only works if your audience is aware of it. That was the whole point of the Supreme Court decision in the Flint case. If it wasn't painfully obvious that the article was a joke, Flint would have lost. If anyone would have read that article and thought Flint was seriously believing those things, Flint would have lost.
You were not clear at all that you were being sarcastic when you argued that Kerry was a traitor. Everyone here who was arguing with you seriously thought that you believed he was a traitor. You knew we believed you. You continued to let us believe that you thought Kerry was a traitor even though it wasn't true. That is being disingenuous.

Also, the title of the thread was wrong.
3 parents when to the teacher and told her to remove the picture, plus add in the school board, and you have multiple people, hence the use of the plural term.
You only complained about 1 person, so you should have used a singular term.
So mine was accurate, yours was inflammatory.
Swifty
You are really getting desperate now. Reread this thread. I have complained about two conservatives so far and I'm not done.
And the whole point is that its plural. Your thread was complaining about the acts of 3 individuals, yet you blamed "liberals." I can also point out stupid things that individual conservatives do and blame "conservatives." Of course, I make it painfully clear that I think its absurd to insinuate that an entire group of people feel a certain way because of the actions of a few, and that I am being satiric. That is the only point of my thread. The point of your thread (and many threads just like it) is apparently, "Hey, look at what this stupid liberal did! Aren't liberals dumb!"

When you first posted, you only had one. I was clearly complaing about the actions of those in NJ, and there was more than one of them, hence the plural term.
