View Full Version : What's So Special About Level 5?

I plan to do some reading on this myself, but since everyone seems to have long ago passed Level 5, I thought I would tap into the collective board expertise.

I just hit level 5 magician a few nights ago (by grouping with players who actually have skill and living off their scraps :)) Anyway, all indications are this is a pretty important milestone. I don't want to do anything stupid here, so any personal stories that might help me would be appreciated.

In the meantime, I'm going to give that crazy woman down by the river her rat-tails and see what she'll tell me. :)

It's kind of like graduation day from high school. You are mage. You have three choices in front of you. Choice one become and Eldrich, choice two become and Enchanter, and choice three become a Mentalist. It is up to you young one what path you choose. However once you pick your path you may not turn back, push on forward with the class you have chosen for that character. :) I know it's kind of vauge but it all depends on what you want to do as a caster. I just narrowed it down to the three choices you have available to you. Do a little reseach, find what path you wish to take, then go see a trainer and become the best you can be. Most important always have fun! :cheese:

Thank you, oh wise one. :)

I actually forged ahead last night and decided on the Path of Focus. I still havent spent any of my experience points, need to get a guide to read and help me decide, but I'm on my way.

Thanks again for the advice.

DO NOT MAKE LEVEL 6 before you choose!!

You need to decide this soon! It will change your life. :)

Focus, what class does that make you?

Eldritch! Now I've just got to figure out what all this cool new spells do. Sometimes I think instead of killing the enemy, I'm casting the "Shrink My Own Pee Pee" spell or something. :) There are so many of them, I can't keep up!

Jammer's decision making process on choosing a class is simply awesome.

Being A Mana chanter is like being bipolar, only Mythic becomes the unbalanced chemicals in your players brain. First you can't be awesome, just a mediocre caster with potential. Then you become the god of pve and every one want's you to do pl sessions makin 50 is a breese. Well you all know the story, we have been reduced to a former shadow of what we once were. Now we'll be more limited in rvr then we already are with the new " Under the same roof policy". Honey get me the gas can and that lighter , I'm so depressed, God I'm depressed. Now it would be nice if Mythic would come up with the equivilant to Zoloft for us poor chanters eh? he he Guess my point is good choice ATM Jammer but you never know where Myhtic will strike next :P ;)

I am sure I fumbled around for ddays getting Grundy to level 5 back then. My last toon to level was a mana chanter who hit 45 in about the same amount of time before focus sheild got nerfed.

OMG, what a blast from the past. Little did I know then that before it was over I would have Gondo as:

1. Full void spec until I found out that void bolts were bugged
2. Mixed spec per Mythic documentation until they nerfed how spell level affects resists.
3. Full mana to get fin groups so I could finally make 50
4. Full light spec because full mana seemed less fun in RvR than PvE

Then, I almost used a full respec to go back to full void (my original vision) when they claimed to have fixed bolts. In fact, my Pendragon Gondo is full void, just for nostalgic reasons.

So, in hindsight, it didn't matter at all what I did on that fateful day in 2002.
