Here's the skinny.. I have 4 WD drives raided together with a Highpoint raid controller..
My problem is i can't tell which HD it is that's going bad.. They are all labeled the same in the controller's menu.
According to my event view the error message in there is this
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation."
Anyone have any idea's on finding out which HD it is?
if not.. I just have to find a program or something ot test each drive and brake the raid and stuff.. :)
Thanks in advance

Im no genius, but if its a raid, cant you take em out 1 by 1 and see if you still get the error?

RAID what... 0 or 1?
RAID 0, it's any one of the drives. You can't take out one drive and still be up and running. If any ONE dies, you're SOL. :(
RAID 1, it's one of the two - and it should show a problem in your RAID monitor utility, because something didn't fly right. :)
RAID 1+0 (RAID10), find out which of the pair is throwing the error (using your RAID monitor software), then you'll have a bugger of a time figuring which of the RAID0 drives it is. :ooer:
RAID5 (i doubt), your RAID software again, should tell you which drive isn't playing nice with others. :D

There are some utilities that assist in detecting that problem... I do not know them off hand but when I get to work tuesday I will ask out network guy and see what he has to say.
Wolf might also beable to help you here more. He is the guy I always about ask raid stuff

You gotta have your RAID software (from Highpoint) loaded... the BIOS (ultra-ata raid controller bios) doesn't usually show errors or problems unless the one of the drives has actually lost the stripe/mirror completely. If it's a block error, and it's RAID0 (across 4 drives), eek.

Yeah It's Raid 0.... and I didn't get any cool software from Highpoint...
It only came with the Bios disk for installation... so Hrmmm...
ahhh well...
