Proposed merge: Legion of Lions merge into Defenders of the Fae

After some deliberation - we (some of us in both guilds) feel that it makes much more sense for LoL to merge with Defenders so we can be one stronger guild, rather than 2 smaller guilds.

We practically do things together anyway... you guys would also have the benefit of not having to raise 300gp to get an emblem...

As well, there are a few Defender members with alt characters to join LoL - well, you could now revert to your main (if you were playing your alt to be with LoL).

So... let us (Harm, Boom, Babs, Jobius, Me) know what you think.

well there are advantages to staying separate... i think everyone's LoL chars are way behind those in Roo's guild anyway... so we would in essence be separate anyway even if we do merge...

that said...

it's a great idea to merge, it makes total sense... however, i would prefer to keep the Legion of Lions name :D or if anyone could think up a better one

And as for separation of levels - it's really not an issue... look at Boomy - level what, 17, 18 now?

Us higher levels can always (and are always willing to) help out on quests and give directions and provide ress's etc... which is much easier in one guild chat.

The only thing that concerns me is that I was looking forward to some LoLy goofiness in DAoC, and the Defenders seem to be more serious about the game. I don't want to offend anyone by being silly when they are all serious. Also, I'm proud of the Legion of Lions name, and it would be great to keep it. :) But I'll go along with whatever the majority decides. :)

let's see... my thoughts.

On the seperation of levels - it's not an issue, it really isn't. We don't HAVE to be the same level, some seperation is good... or at least acceptable. We've happily grouped with much lower levels, for fun and or leveling. More on this below.

On the name - we'd have to stick with one or the other... and Defenders has the guild cloak, and the RPs... and yeah, we debated when we started it quite a bit about the name...

On the seriousness - I hesitate to come right out and say we are not serious about it because... well. Lemme try this. I used to play EQ, and we were reletively "serious" about it, and bitched about the dorks who would ruin the game for everyone else by training spectres to the docks, accomplishing nothing but grief for everyone else. Totally assine and idiotic behavior. Well, a guy I work with who we used to play with was bored one day, so what did he do? Trained spectres to the docks, just for fun.

Moral of the story? We aren't serious, as in, You have to play bleh bleh bleh hours a day, you have to always RvR when the call goes up, you have to obey what a higher level says, etc, etc. In that respect we AREN'T serious. I guess I would like to replace the term "serious" with "mature". We are all adults, or act as adults, unlike others I have seen, in this game and out. We are more experianced in RvR, and the interaction of our realm with others, so more "mature" in that respect. Would I feel we require you to do this stuff? Hell no. But I do think, with all honestly, if you guys got a taste of it, you would crave it like you wouldn't believe.

And as Roo touched on, we are more "organized" when it comes to this - because it just plain requires it... and part of that is not only organization, but numbers. I have a vested interest in you guys joining with us, because, that's more members, more bodies as it were, but bodies and members I can be confident won't be adolesent jackasses and ruin the game for everyone else.

That doens't mean we don't goof around and have fun, it's just we make sure that goofing around doesn't ruin anyone else's fun. :)

About the groupage - Any of you a part of that one 9 man tag team on the Pookahs? Imagine that now, with the characters you have..... and all the guildmates from both guilds that regularly play. We wouldn't be taking on Pookahs, they would be too easy. Think about that for a bit. :)

In summary, I personally think we should combine. I think it would make everyone's experiance more fun, and would improve communication and coordination between the two "groups".

I think its a great idea. Just for ease of communication alone. Every day I party up with people in both guilds. I'm guild talking with some people and sending messages to others and using the party chat and sometimes even making chat groups. Its silly. We basically act like we are one guild anyway. We all hunt together, we all share stuff with each other and give each other hand me downs, we have each other on our friends lists. We are like one guild with a communication problem.

I do think that Legion of Lions is perhaps the coolest name possible for a Doac guild. But Defenders is a fine name too. And going with my second choice in guild name is worth it to sort out the communication mess (for me anyway). Also, Defenders already have an emblem. If we merge we are saving 300 gold that would have to be spent on a LoL emblem. And the emblem does look pretty sweet (and if I thought it looked lame I would say so. :) )

Maybe in 6 months when we get a little burnt out on Hibernia we can start Legion of Lions over in Albolognia. :D

Two words from the ever musically gifted Jobius. HELL YES! I to like Boomy are talking in guild chat and telling 4 to 5 other people from LOL and sometimes it gets complicated. I was also felt bad the day I gave Boomy and invite to the Defenders and he declined and said he couldn't. I also have about as many Legion of Lions members in my friends list as I do Denfenders.

As for seriuosness, yes as stated above we're serious about not being jerks in game. However, myself included, I've wondered if we wern't just a bunch of perverted teens running around in game. Don't believe me just as Morety, Gork, Malk, or Boomy. If this doesn't make much sense it's because I just woke up but I know one thing without a doubt I'd like to see the two guilds together as one. It would be a party all the time. :cheese:

ok , i love the idea of the merger but i have one reservation that maybe can be cleared up ...

i'm not the kind of person that is going to master the game (most likely , although things are going surprisingly well) and there is one thing that im really sensitive to - being made to feel like i screwed everything up ... :D ... because it's going to happen , sometimes things get crazy and im hitting the wrong keys for half of a battle , sometimes it takes me 5 minutes to notice that someone is trying to tell me something in chat lol , im not dumb (i dont think?) its just like there is SOOOOO much going on sometimes and this is my first game like this ...

so basically even if i run right into a group of 50 hostile aggressive quadruple purple hellspawn and get everyone in the guild killed even if they were on the other side of realm , and then it causes the server to crash and burst into flames , and then the fire burns down mythic headquarters and they go bankrupt ---> i would hope that people will be understanding ?

the way i see it when someone makes a bonehead move or just doesnt know what they are doing and wreaks havoc , the last thing they need is someone telling them how bad they screwed up ... :D ... my theory is - tell me how to do it right , dont tell me how wrong i am doing it ... :D ...

I think the only reason we weren't one big clan to begin with was the 'acceptable' names issue, and the likelihood of role-playing.

If there's no issue with people having names like retardape and rumplebum, then that's the original barrier down. I think the way Defenders of the Fae is now, the merger would be perfect for both clans involved.

As for the role-playing, that's basically a dead issue. Everyone's been having fun and being themselves.

Neither guild has people who are online to make misery for other online players. Quite the opposite. Both guilds have gone out of their way to help others.

I've had great fun with both guilds, and I think it'll be best for all involved to merge.

As much as I love the Legion of Lions name, Defenders of the Fae has already got a reputation in Hibernia/Pellinore, the realm points, symbol etc. I'd have to say keep DotF as the combined guild name. Boom's idea of reserving the name for later works well with me.

Legion of Lions should also know the levelling system. You're all ranked as supplicants until lvl 20. At level 20 you get the emblem for your cloak and get to listen to the alliance chat, which is guild leaders talking about wars with midgard/albion on the frontier. It makes you want to head out and die!

Now, if LoL folds to merge, I want my gold piece back!

0 is Guildmaster
1 is Guild leader (same rights as Guildmaster)
2 Upper level, frequently on - participate in officer chat (position by assignment only, not "the next step above 3-6") - can talk/listen in officer chat
3,4,5,6 are for 20+ level of the various classes (or one of the founding members) - can hear alliance chat
7 - proven compatriot and friend to the guild
8 - worthy of the guild title, new to the guild
9 - relatively unproven, no rights other than guild hear and speak


Now keep in mind, there was a lot of this that was made assuming we were going to get some strangers in. None of you are really strangers to me, so expect to go to 7 real quick like.

Keep in mind 3,4,5,6 are all same rank really - just different names.

As Harm/Druyn/Istrarion was the guildmaster of LoL, I think we'll probably put him in Defenders Council (or Herald, not sure really).

Seems like everyone is on board with this. I just want to get the official word from Harm. I think he is away for the holidays and it doesn't feel right to me to do this without him here. But since I am level 20 now, I am definitely looking forward to gettin my stuff emblemized :D

The DAoC guild was founded by Istrarion/Druyn/Harm. I feel that no further serious discussion should be made until this is discussed with the founding member of the LOL DAoC guild. The creation of his guild was done for many reasons, reasons which he could best explain. I feel it pertinent to adress the ideas and issues with him before a rally call to one guild has been issued. I do understand that there is no Harm (get it? hehe) in discussing this, but it may have unintential effect of destroying a respected LOL members idea, belief, and passion without him even being consulted. Both sides make excellent and very rational reasons. I may be able to speak with Druyn/istrarion before he returns, but in the unlikely event i dont I ask that everyone strengthen their respective guild and uphold the respective foundation each guild was built on. When Harm/Druyn/Istrarion returns I will state my opinion (other than this) on the merger as will Harm.
