Which is better?

I have bellsouth dsl right now with a dynamic address (1.5 mpbs / 256k)

I'm considering upgrading to the "extreme" service they now offer which is (3.0 mbps/384 k) - Not sure if I'll really see the difference but I was thinking it might be better for gaming.

With this new package they offer either the dynamic or a static ip - It also states that the static ip is not recommended for standard installation (which I'm not sure what that means)

Anyways I was wondering if I should bother upgrading to this speed (only $5 more a month) and if I should go ahead and get the static Ip or stay with the dynamic

ok teach me - o wise ones :hump:

I prefer static but even with dynamic your modem will probably always be on and you'd keep the same ip depending on how they have the renewal set up.

Dynamic is fine unless you're running a server.

If they are not changing more for Statics go with them. You might not need them but it would help if you ever decided to host family web site or something.

I would recommend getting static if they aren't charging extra for it. 3mb down/384 up. /drool

wish my dsl was that fast
