No more discrediting peoples sources as simply 'Liberial Source.' If you think it is incorrect provide links to your own source.

To many times I have seen full points of views just discredited because someone does not like the information they find on the other side of the link and look for a quick way to discredit it without doing any homework on their side.

I hope from now on anyone that sees the infamous 'Liberial Source' tag in a reply just assume it means the person using it has been backed into a corner and has no way to discredit the information you presented.

Swifty just claimed he doesn't care about affiliation when it comes to sources. You don't have anything to worry about anymore Noleader.

I agree.

Knowing the source of information can have a benefit. But, dismissing information on the basis of its source alone is not only impolite, but it's a grievous error in logic.

I will concede that in some circumstances certain sources would be highly suspect. That is why when I talk about environmental issues I NEVER will cite to Greenpeace or the World Wildlife Foundation. My personal feelings towards these groups are irrelevant. They admittedly have a very strong agenda when it comes to environmental issues and I feel it would be improper if I used them to support my arguments on this forum regarding these issues. I'm not saying they should be dismissed as liars, I am just saying that I feel I have more credibility if I cite other sources on environmental issues. That is why I have never cited them.

Likewise, I feel I have a right to question statements made by the oil industry on environmental matters. Like Greenpeace they just have too much of a vested interest in the subject.

Of course, when we debate environmental issues and I go out of my way to cite from conservative sources, and I pointedly refrain from citing any environmental groups, and I am still told that my sources are all liberal whiners and won't be considered, and at the same time I am accused of being close minded because I question statements made by the oil-industry, I feel I am being treated completely unfairly.

My favorite news source is The Onion. I doubt anyone will contest the validity of my source!
