Great article in the New Yorker by Seymor Hersh (http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?040524fa_fact)on the prisoner abuse exposing the Department of Defense role. If you had questions about the quirky Undersecretary of Intelligence who publically disagreed with Taguba's assessment, his name is Stephen Cambone and this article outlines his leadership in the gathering of intelligence from the prison.

Long article but well worth the read. Puts alot of things in perspective and confirms the notion that the MPs as 'a bunch of kids out of control' is just the cover story by DoD. Of course, the actual folks who are really responsible cannot talk about the program and dont have to brief Congress or the public.

Fair to note, though, that the Pentagon has denied at least some of the allegations made in the article.

Interesting, but awfully detailed about a black-ops program.

I was privvy to Top Secret information when I was in the Air Force, and black-ops is WAY above that. You couldn't have gotten that TS info out of me for anything (of course, physical torture could change my mind, but it would have to be pretty harsh, I had no training in resisting that of course).

I find it difficult to believe that many someones (it would have to be many) would spill as much info as is in there.

The intellectual in me says, yeah - that story sounds feasible.

The military part of me doubts you'd find anyone involved in black-ops talking about it. You disappear real fast when that happens.

(By the way, I'm not doubting a quick response team/procedure was put in place, that's fine... but the duplicity or obfuscation involved, I'm a little skeptical)

I think it was leaked on purpose by the DoD to a liberal media source.

DoD can deny it as foolish conspiracy crap from humanitarian do-gooders while Bush's conservative base would still see the black ops as a really good thing in the fight against terra.

Points for Bushie on a program that does not exist.
