Now that's a lousy excuse for journalism.

I'm not a subscriber and the link worked fine for me.
Maybe, I've registered there before or something, but I've never paid them any money. Kind of like how you have to register here to post and stuff???
I'm not sure exactly what's up. I just know I've never given any money to the NYT website and its letting me link.

Meh... here's part of it:
http://graphics7.nytimes.com/images/dropcap/l.gifONDON, May 13 — The British government said Thursday that its investigation into a series of published photographs purporting to show the brutal treatment of an Iraqi prisoner has concluded that the photos were not taken in Iraq and had been faked.
The images of the reported abuse were emblazoned on the pages of The Daily Mirror earlier this month under the headline "Vile!" at roughly the same time similar photos emerged of American soldiers abusing prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad.
On the front page of The Mirror, a photo portrayed a hooded man it identified as an Iraqi prisoner who had been kicked, beaten and urinated on by soldiers of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
The authenticity of the image was almost immediately called into question by British Army officials who pointed out that the soldiers and the Iraqi both looked well scrubbed, their clothes freshly pressed and that the truck that was said to be the scene of the beating appeared to be in spotless condition. Iraq is notoriously dusty.
On Wednesday, Defense Ministry officials said the truck itself had been located — in Britain — and had been taken into evidence.

And Swifty, you're in no position to be throwing stones. The Times is a bastion of objective, centrist reasoning compared to some of the sources you've linked. :p
