I just discovered this channel in my cable lineup. Pretty good stuff, so far.

The other night I watched a really good show on Saudia Arabia, and last night one about North Korea. Tonight I watched a 3-part series entitled, Yugoslavia: Fall of Milosovic. And tomorrow night, I plan on watching Rivals: RFK and Hoffa, followed by a 2-part series, The Reagan Legacy.

I'm all giddy. :)

OMG, Rooster. You would have loved the Yugoslavia series. It was more exciting than Independence Day. (Okay, I didn't really like that movie. But a lot of people did, so I'll use it as an example. :) ) It was sooo good. Like the part after the war, after Slobo had lost re-election but wouldn't step down. And the people held mass demonstrations, and police didn't show up for work ... and the leader of the opposition party got a message that one of the shady heads of the secret police (or was it military? ugh.. dun remember, but he was a scary dude) wanted to meet with him in secret. And so he went! Don't get in the car with him! You die! But he did. And what did scary dude say? Slobo stole the election and he wouldn't shoot people for someone who stole an election. Phew!

And then there was the part before that, when Slobo finally agreed to remove all Serb troops from Kosovo. In the middle of the night, as the Serbs were moving out, the Russians, who had helped to broker the deal, moved in to set up their own Russian-controlled sector in Kosovo. Sneaky Bastids! They could have ruined it all! OMg, so exciting.

And then there was the part early on when an American delegation went to Kosovo to try and find the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army to find out what they were all about. They didn't know how to find them, so they just drove from village to village, talking with people, until one day, while sitting around a room in someone's home in some random village, in their socks, a KLA guy just walks in and sits down. Contact established! Amazing stuff.

The show had interviews with Clinton, Chirac, Blair, Albright, Milosovic, Yeltsin, Clark ... and oh so many more. Who did what when. Who was pressuring who. Not a complete accounting of the war by any means, but it was fascinating within the scope of what was covered.

If you have this channel, I'd highly recommend taking a gander.
