Jamie is being admitted to the hospital in a few. She's a bit jaundiced. So, I'll be home tomorrow as well.

They said it's not at a critical point yet, but want to get it down faster rather than slower. They're going to put her under the bright lights.

Don't you and Canidae worry too much Roo, that is pretty common for babies to be jaundiced. I think all of my mothers children were under the lights for the same thing and most of us turned out ok! (How I turned out is still a questionable topic :D )

I'll keep the baby in my prayers!

She has to stay at the hospital tonight. Canidae went with (of course).

They're going to test her blood tomorrow morning.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks for the kind words guys (and gal). :)

Rooster, our daughter also had jaundice pretty bad. The fact that she couldn't get the whole breast feeding thing down initially made it even worse. (Babies gotta p00p to get rid of all that bilirubin :D)

We were back and forth to the hospital every day for 6 days with her, and the hospital is about a 35 minute drive. Her levels never reached the point where lights were necessary, but they hovered just below. I wished they would just put her under the lights, but that damn hospital policy...

The doctors eventually diagnosed her with a tied-tongue - that little attachment on the bottom of her tongue was too short and she wasn't latching on for feeding correctly. They snipped it (ouch), she began to feed better, and the jaundice started to fade.

Hope the lights help your little one. Glad to hear your doctors are doing the right thing - getting those bili levels down faster rather than slower. Hope all goes well for your newest addition. :)

Being a parent does have it's scary moments doesn't it. But I'm sure you guys are old pros and it sounds like they're nipping this in the bud. Hope everything is back to normal soon.

Well, she's on her way home now.

She was admitted at at 20.

It dropped 2 points by evening.

In the morning it was down to a 14. Seems she's staying awake more, eating more and overall in better shape.

Yay!

Thanks...

Granted, we want it under 3 (the eyes yellow at 3).

But once it starts declining, it generally will fade away.

I don't understand this point system?

Dang....it all sounds so complicated. What's the warranty like? Is the owner's manual detailed?

Glad things are getting better roo, keep us posted:hump:
