* after i get out of this bg, imma need some PL loving. i'm sick of being little. ( yes, i am 5 years old and pouting cuz i never get to play with the big kids ;) )
* is all that vn stuff true? did some hib really help out the mids? that's so not cool. :(

:D hi nanana.
tell me the pros and cons to being a ns vs a ranger.
:hump:
I wouldn't steer you wrong. :) I think mana ment and light ment are both pretty kick ass classes and would be fun, but I had a feeling you would rather have pet and uber dd then the situational aoe dot. Just cuz I'm doing a little better in bg doesn't mean anything about whats gonna happen in big boy RvR.
Yeah Vigzor helped the mids. Its not that big of a deal, relics come and go. But I've sorta thought Vigz is a bit of a dink for a while. So I'm not to surprised. I would never help mids myself, I don't think its a good thing, but I ain't gonna lose sleep over it.
If the mids had asked me to help I woulda double crossed them. I woulda brought 3 groups of hibs with me and kept the relic. :)
I guess you can go for crack 2 soon as we cap out of bg1. Then go back to light again. So your spec at level 35 for bg3 would be 14 mana 31 light.
Although you might want to take light up to 28 first to get the next uber dd, then bring mana to 14. I think that's what I would do, but either way is cool.

bingo boom, i would have done the same thing bring like 8 bards lol
and vigz did say that if he knew they didnt have a skald he would have bolted and took the relic to hib.
given the hour i dont think we could have goten 3 groups up for that. Im more then sure that idea crossed vigzs mind

I can't say i know a hell of a lot about NS's. They look to be a lot of fun, and being sneaky is always a plus. NS's have the advantage of not needing a group in order to get rps (if you care). I also don't really know how much effort/time if takes to develop a "good" ns.
Rangers: I love my ranger. Soooo much fun shooting people.
Pros: Still somewhat sneaky
One shotting casters is great
You can get TS and make infils mad at you
more stuff i can't think of at the moment
Cons: Hard to level
Hard to level
Hard to level
No one wants to group with you
It's not as easy to solo at lower levels
"You FUMBLE!!!!! your attack with your bow" is the most irritating thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
Part of the reason I quit DAoC was because I'd log in my ranger, spend hours looking for a group, finally find one, and then something'd come up at home or work and I'd have to leave after about 5 minutes with the group.
It wasn't always that way, because I remember in the early days of DAoC I'd solo yellows easily and pull down my fair share of red cons too - the risk was well worth the gain in xp - until they boosted the regen on mobs. This effectively rendered my 1337 bow-kiting method(shoot the shit out of a m0nstar, run like heck out of its aggro range, and then go back and shoot the shit out of it again) useless. So I was basically left with being unable to solo stuff, and being unable to group 90% of the time. This, along with the endless fumbling and misses, is what nullified the fun of my experience.
But it sure was nice hunting down and killing other snipers in RvR, and one-shotting casters is something you have to experience for yourself to understand. :) I'm sure there's probably a lot more fun stuff and equipment added since I left, and there's still a need for good snipers in RvR.

awww boomy... i didnt mean to imply that you'd steeer me wrong. and i know ( in theory ) that it will get better later. i'm just a whiny baby toon with penis.. er... aedot envy. :x dont even get me started on how jealous i am of allia's mana chanter with that cute mr underhill and her giant I AM A BOMB.... BOOM! spell.
this is really my first game of this type.. unless you count d2.. which i'm realizing now was so ridiculously easy. i'm not used to feeling so helpless and useless all the time.
and that vigz0r guy is an idiot. i dont really care about the relic stuff. it's the fact that he's bragging about it and then telling people "dude.. it's just a game. dont get so mad" that bugs me. if it was 'just a game' to you, you wouldnt have felt the need to cheat to "show those albs"!
holy moly moollet! omg. i think i hit something the other day for like 100 damage and had like 30 crit strike..i was soo happy.
and um.. i wanna know what moollet's hiding in that screenie too! you were cybarring m0rety, werent you? :hump:

and how come nobody wants to group with rangers?
spyder913
03-12-2003, 06:31 PM
nobody wants to group with rangers because they bring nothing to a group that isn't better done by someone else
bow vs high con monsters = crap damage => better off with a caster for ranged damage
rangers aren't as good of tanks as real tanks or even NS at high levels (because of their superior evade) => get a real tank
rangers can't heal, rez, or buff so you're better off with bards, wardens or druids for that
oh and btw mullet i'm jealous of your 666 cap =) I think I will hit that with my next level of MoM
I like how I made Mullet's friend's list w/ my Dr00id...he must love those grey con spec buffs I give him!
:cheese:
Cruse, for what it's worth, I always like having a ranger in my group for XP. They pull better than any other class, and personally I value that. Even when I was leveling my hero, I prefered to have a ranger in the group to pull instead of me. And when they fixed the aggro codes for mobs back a year ago or so, I had no trouble peeling the aggro after they pulled so the ranger and the rest of the group did the damage while I taunted the mob with my big pointy stick.
but then again, I can be weird..../shrug

I dunno, If i'm in a group doing tank pulling you can't beat a champ.. they get an insta dd = fast pulling.

Champs are pretty good at getting aggro from a mob too.
In large raids, all it takes is a DD and a mob is on me before it comes to the group. I taunt non-stop hoping for the loot drops :) If I lose aggro, I put a full round of debuffs on a mob and that usually gets me on top of the list again.
I love getting drops on large raids, and having aggro is how you do it.
As a ranger, I can do more damage to a mob before it gets to a group, but can't maintain/peel aggro anywhere near what my champ can do. I could sit back and shoot arrows, but a nuker can blast for more damage.
I find myself in rvr with my ranger thinking of myself as a nuker who has some melee ability.

Bah.. you just need a Bard who knows how to Lull for good aggro management ... at least at lower levels. Past 40 Lull doesn't work as well. :/
When Pugsley and I levelled together, he'd always pull. (He was the BESTEST puller in all the land.) Then he'd run back past the group. I'd Lull the mob as it was coming for him, and all the tanks had to do was look mean and they'd get aggro.

I was talking about a ranger tanking and being able to hold the aggro. He can't, which is why rangers do not make good tanks.
along with RF armor and lower hp's....
spyder913

actually.. rangers can steal aggro pretty good from most everyone but champs if they have much melee spec
mobs don't like damage add ;)
I can actually attest to this. While in fin groups anytime tinky was tanking (lol, that sort of rhymes) he would pick up aggro even though he was only hitting for ~ 50ish dmg.
If u can lvl a ns to 50 theres nothing in this game u cant do, like a ranger they arnt grp friendly, their 2 spells r a joke, and if u dont line up just right for which ever style u r doing u might as well not even try an oj. cons r uber stealth, the perferate artery chain, CLIMBING WALLS (the whole reason i wanted to be a shade) and striking with a DoT poison and running away to stealth and do it again. Im sure im missing alot of things other ns think r uber but this is my opinion. I dont know much about rangers, but i do know they have a hard time finding grps so i always welcome then in mine. One word of advise though is if you do a shade then you should find someone who wants to do one with you, gives you someone to grp with and experience at grping with other shades. :p

true cruse, champs are awesome too, at pulling or tanking aggro.
