Ut2003 Benchmarks

I have had the unique opportunity to be able to run benchmarks on the UT2003 demo with similar systems comparing three generations of GeForce cards.

The Cards are as follows:

Visiontek GeForce 2 GTS
PNY GeForce 3
MSI GeForce 4 4200

Since I used two different systems, and did not set up a more scientific approach like testing each card in each system, it might not be the most insightful benchmark, but it is something. Maybe if I am not too lazy I can actually do a complete test by installing each card in both machines and testing them that way. Regardless, here are the system specs and the benchmarks that I got. (Don't I feel like a nerdy dork)

1600x1200: Flyby: 65fps / Botmatch: 40fps

1280x960: Flyby: 99.8fps / Botmatch: 50fps

1024x768 (no FSAA): Flyby 134fps / Botmatch: 53fps

1024x768 (Qx:FSAA): Flyby: 101fps / Botmatch: 50fps

1024x768 w/4XS:FSAA: Flyby 52fps / Botmatch: 35fps

Was just gonna ask you guys how you were running benchmarks til I followed shirks thread. I'll try it tonight and see what I get.

Ran it on all the maps seems like the slowest was 44fps on one map and 69 on the fastest. In general the game feels very smooth.

Looks like Botmatch is CPU bound with some minor choking if the video card is older (what I figured).

Just upgraded to 512 megs of ram. Gave me a few more FPS but the biggest boost has been load times.

Windows 2000 @1074x768 with 512megs of ram

I think my benchmark numbers went down, since lowering some of the details and stuff in game. Oh well, I guess it is better than nothing. :cheese:

FYI - if you have a 128MB video card;
set CompressLightMaps=False

It will improve your load times.

I've also set it to 16bit color & use 16bitTextures=True -- and have Texture Detail=Highest, World=Highest, Player=Higher -- and I still average over 50fps.

I used to have dips into 30fps when I was running 32bit -- but I also had triple-buffering off (heard that can make a difference).

My issue right now is, when a map changes, I see CurrentFrame -1 (the previous frame) overlapping Current Frame... they flicker back and forth. I'm pretty sure it's a result of the TripleBuffer, but I've never heard of a problem with it before.

same results 144 flyby 54 botmatch.

For the money? GeForce4 4200 easy to O/C to 4400 speeds.

For the power? Radeon 9700 -- but NV30 is just around the corner.
