In case you you are not into security (not talking you you harm :cheese: ) there is a pretty important security flaw in all versions of XP. The Service pack that was just released is supposed to include a fix, but if you are like me and will not be downloading the service pack for whatever reason there is a way to protect yourself from one of the major flaws.
Supposedly anyone can create a link on either a website or an e-mail message which can delete the contents of a directory on your pc. The potential for lost info and is huge, especially if yu don't back up info on your pc.
This is the info from the TechTV website:
If, for whatever reason, you don't or can't download the service pack, there is an alternative. There's a file you can rename or delete to fix the security hole. Here are the steps:
Perform a search for a file on your C drive called "uplddrvinfo.htm."
Once you've found the file, delete it or rename it. Doing so will not hinder your ability to use Windows XP.
I deleted the file on three pcs and they all still work fine, so it is not an essential file.
