I've also read that Obama has declared that all of the returned bank bailout money, including the profit made, will go directly against the national debt.

From some of the other articles that I have read, regarding TARP, indicate that some of the money paid back was not actually cash. Several banks gave up properties to the Government. The Government will then sell off the properties when the values are better. It looks like the TARP program has been good overall though. I hope all of the recipients will pay their loans back, but I don't think all of them will.

The jury is still out for me. I disagreed with it and still do on a moral level. If we make the money back great but from the looks of it we still have a lot of exposure, to the extent it could wipe out any positive feedback so far.
