Windows wants to format my hard drive. Is it all over, or is the data saveable?

Your data can be saved more times then not. First off will the drive mount (as in slaving it on a different computer)? If so then you should be able to use a number of recovery tools to access the data.

I'm running windows on drive F, my C drive (the one i have to format) is a separate hard drive. I'm unable to access it to move the data.

There are a number of tools to scan the drive for data... Don't know them off hand but it sounds like the file system got messed up and the data is still there.

Check for data recovery software, I know there use to be a few free ones out there.

Thanks NL. I wasn't able to recover the data myself, but I am going to a place in the morning that specializes in that. *crosses fingers*. You guys are always so helpful :)
