Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?
Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq.
Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin,
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.,
Gov. Rod Blogojevich,
House leader Mike Madigan,
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)
.....our leadership in Illinois.....all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.
Of course, they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans; they're aren't any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us!!!???? SURE!!!!!

Chicago's been like that for decades, hasn't it? In fact, as far as I know, the murder rate has been dropping since 1990 like most metropolitan areas.
Checking the numbers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate) on wikipedia from the FBI, Detroit has a homicide rate 3 times higher. When I think of the first place in the country that has a reputation of a war zone, I think Detroit.

However, his point does ... well... have a point.
Keep in mind, no liberal/democrat program ever fails - it just needs more money!

You think correctly then. Iraqi Cities look better then the East Side of Detroit.

Chicago contributes to the treasury, Iraq withdraws... For now. Bring on the oil!
We heard this exact same argument right before last election, I think it was for New York, though. Basically, if we only counted enforcement personnel and ignored civilians as that body count does (in the past six months, the lowest body count for Iraqi civilians for one month has been 311 in August), put every Chicago officer in flak jackets, gave them shoot-to-kill rights at the same level as Iraq, and a few other things to make it an actual comparison and not a talking point, then yes, we should do something about Chicago.
Edit: oh, that number of 311 is only the number reported, the actual number is much higher.
I wonder, now that the disparities are shown, is the opposite going to be held true? That is, people who were criticizing / would criticize Obama for these things and feels like the Iraq war is a success, is going to accept those numbers from Chicago as a success?
I'm guessing no.

Maybe it would be a good idea if the money that is being bled into Iraq was put into your country.

We've got a Producers kind of situation going on here with Chicago.
It's springtime.

Wait 292 Police Officers were killed in Chicago over the last 6 months alone, damn that must be one huge rate of turnover, you'd think that would be a national emergency!
Oh wait, your comparison is useless, and is just a pile of poop I'm supposed to choke down.
Yay for stupid propaganda! Huzzah! Huzzah!

When a firefighter dies of a heart attack while on shift that is still considered a death in the line of duty... And we all know how many donuts cops eat.

I received this information in an email today and did some research. Among my findings:
+ Chicago is ranked 48th in murder rate among U.S. cities.
+ Alaska (Palin) and Arizona (McCain) have higher murder rates than Illinois.
+ In the first six months of 2008, 1 out of every 1,000 U.S. soldiers in Iraq were killed. In the same period, 1 out of every 10,000 Chicagoans was killed.
+ In the first six months of 2008, 221 U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq. In the same period, about 18,000 Americans were murdered in the U.S.
+ Illinois has the 11th highest sales tax in the U.S., lower than the state sales tax in Arizona, New York, California and Texas.
+ Alaska's state pension deficit is $8.5 billion or $12,436.39 per resident. Illinois' state pension deficit is $44 billion, or $3,423.44 per resident.
+ The AFL-CIO considers the two states with the biggest threat to their state pension systems to be: (1) Alaska and (2) Arizona. Illinois ranks number 11 on this list.
All of my research is documented with cited references here:

Sorry, why is it irrelevant?

Who are you? And did you miss the poll thread?
If you are here because you are an Obama supporter you are wasting your time. Almost everyone on this board is planning on voting Obama.
Also if you want to pimp Obama then you better bring more then some figures about how good his city is. Why did he support the retroactive immunity for the telcoms? Why did he support and push for the bailout? Why does he plan on commiting more troops to Afghanistan? Why does he plan on keeping the bases we are building in Iraq active and staffed? How about his support to the extended FISA bill?

Jeremy, you should actually read this thread as to why that information is irrelevant. I doubt you'll spend your time doing so though, it's more likely that you'll just copy/paste a bunch of rhetoric and move on to the next forum until election time, thinking you did something useful.
