We'll see if that works in Canada. I noted a lot of the sites were for US only with the preorders, and that ebgames.ca (canadian) didn't have any at all.

Ah yeah I'm not sure. They don't seem to have anything saying you can't get it. They also sell the EU version on the same page, so I think they're pretty international. Maybe because it's all digital delivery?

Amazon.com is another option too.

yeah, I did d2d too. Here's how I'd describe it.

In terms of getting what you want as soon as you want it, it's great. The site works, it's not too much of a hassle. They also cater to prerelease, which steam doesn't do, and steam doesn't seem to have the same kind of fresh content.

the only thing that has ever happened to me on D2D, is that I bought Supreme commander, and because it was a different patch version than the retail release (for some reason), the gpg.net patcher had a problem dealing with it. I was eventually able to figure it out by going to the forums and installing some specific patches.

But that's irrelevant here, because the patcher on an MMO is usually way more robust. So I think d2d is an ironclad choice for people who want to buy a game.

Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of trying to grab a beta copy this late in the game? Just so you don't have to start on Thursday?

Well, its the same software, sans a small patch I got yesterday, between Beta and main. Even my Icon still says Beta... Same stuff though. The advantage to getting it early, as a beta, gives you the head start. Start date of the 16th. You also get a ring with nice, but low, resistances, and some sort of camp kit which I have not used yet. I think it helps you regen health and points faster.

No real advantage other than a 2 day head start... but, after 30 days of play, it won't make one bit difference.

Ok then once I either figure out how to get my microphone to work with Vista and/or get my front microphone/speaker jacks to work I'll hit someone for the info. Or once I breakdown and just grab a soundcard on the way home from work, which is probably more likely than me spending another week trying to figure out my onboard sound.

Get headset/mic setup. I hear a lot of echo feedback to the normal mic setup. I hear the speakers re-broadcast my voice. Or, use the 'push-to-talk' button. Otherwise, TS or Vent become unusable, imo.

Oh, btw, for all that see this... was just at Best Buy today, they had 6 of the Collectors Editions available, along with 60 or more standard DVDs. $80 for the collector editions.
