You now have to ask for them little ketchup packets for your french fries, when you eat out.
Heck, even when I ask for them, they still skrew me over and only give me the one little salt packet.

McDonalds has always done that here in Canada.
It seems when you do ask them, they give you more than you would've taken in the first place anyway. That makes it all counter productive.
Here's an interesting fact about Dairy Queen. They found that by putting napkins on every table and making them available for people when they're eating, people take a helluva lot less napkins.
I guess they use what they need, as opposed to taking a ton in case they need them.

That's actually a condition of standard policy and inattentive employees.
Wendy's always ensures you get ketchup, salt, and a straw. Their quality standards are much higher (I once roomed with someone who was a manager at both -- not at the same time).

actually, McDonalds started doing that here at the height of the economy... just another way for them to cut pennies

Also, consumers are getting screwed because these places are putting more ice in their sodas! :( More ice = less soda. And they either frown on you or charge you for water. Dicks!
That's why I take my own drink to fast food joints. Nothink like a gut-bombing burger and malt liquor.

I generally ask for 1/2 ice (if they do the filling).
And most places up here are DIY drinks.
