Well, it's running smooth as silk for me, and with dx10, it looks great. So far I'm really liking it.

But then, I'm only lvl 4 and have to go to dinner now and haven't seen any high population areas yet.

So, so far so good imo!

well they have multi versions of same zone just like city of heros does so sometimes when we group we will have to switch to a common zone like zone 13 or something

I'm liking the way melee combat works. It really helps that I don't have to click to target everything.

You don't have to click to target?? That sounds waaaaaaaay cool!

It's nice, I'm almost lvl 7. I need a break. I'm not feeling an addiction with it yet though. I don't feel like I just have to keep playing it. The combos are really cool in the combat.

Have any of you tried to claim your preorder ingame items? I tried the /claim command and nothing happens. I bought the collector's edition, but maybe it won't work until launch day. I also did upgrade my account with my retail CE key.

Just so you know that the first 20 levels are more like a tutorial to get you familiar with all the aspects of the game. It’s after that the world starts to open up. Glad to see things are running smooth for you all.

I just upgraded to this giant curved 2 handed sword, and on those bloody death crits its just so darn cool watching him slice and dice, cut off his head and then mock the corpse.
But, i guess im just a sicko.
Whats worse is my 6 yeard old is standing here watching, going "awesome" and "cool" every time it happens.

Plus the level of detail gone into this is fantastic, try resting if you havnt already.

So do you know how to get the guild started?

ahhhh ok, its a button at the top of the screen....way too easy

so do i create ?

Morety
05-18-2008, 01:24 PM
Definitely, create it and start inviting anyone/everyone who's on...from our guild, of course. If you can figure it out, try to auto-promote anyone on our guild list of names so that they can also invite.

It'll be a great help in getting us all together and levelling up.

I grouped up for a few minutes last night, and I didn't realize this game had an apprentice system. As far as I can tell, it's the same thing as the sidekicking system from City of Heroes. If it is anywhere near as good as CoH's system, this will be sweet.

bleedboy

i am online as bleeboy is you are inviting to guild

otwist
05-18-2008, 01:53 PM
When creating the guild it asks for government type, not sure if its showy or has some sort of impact:

Cimmerian
Archeron
Stygian
Aquilonian
Nemedian
Hyborian Militia
Harem

Personally, i like Harem :)

Think might have impact on PVP later ?

i havent seen anything that makes it matter

otwist

OK created Legion of Lions guild as Cimmerian, and you can change it anyways it seems.

Send tell to Fafhrd in game to get invite.

Bleedboy/bleeboy and Cavan have invite/promote access also

Darwin_Deathbringe

i have a feeling it impacts the type of town you make and the pvp keeps you can make also

My first impression is very positive. I cant believe how smooth it is running. I dont care for the kill X quests with slow respawn + an army of people camping one spawn. I am hoping that will go away soon tho.

I am barreling through stuff that i should probably be actually looking at, but oh well. They seem to make everything mistake proof. I saw you can retrain your skills easy enough.

I am liking my bear shaman thus far, but I get the sense that he would be twice as strong in a group. Soloing isnt all that easy atm.

The only thing bad that happened in beta was you got less xp for killing things then you did solo. but you where able to kill more things as a group then solo. So it kind of works out in the end. Looks like I might have to run out and get it. I've heard people are picking up the game at ebgame already and are able to log in to early access for some reason. not sure if that has changed. EBgames still has it for sale as a perorder on there website.

Think funcom gonna face a class action on this one, i didnt realize but the CE preorder boxes actually say if you buy it you get early access. ALOT of people got shut out of the arly access, and they are really mad.

Other than that, its greeaaaaaat

Achilleus
05-18-2008, 03:31 PM
lol, I don't think there will be a class action over 3 stupid days of play time. Early access customers are not even getting that with all the down time. :rolly:

for anyone that played in the beta at all. does the retail version seem to run any smoother and less demanding on your system? especially interested in dx9 performance, as that's what i'm using.
main thing that put me off getting it right away is that it ran like a 1 legged pirate with a beaver snacking on his wooden leg.

I am using an 'aged' system. Core 2 Dou 2.13GHz, 2 gig of PC6400 RAM, and a 8800GT vid card (okay, the vid card is a bit newer than the rest of the system). The game is running as smooth as silk for me. I can imagine it running better to be honest. I have everything on default settings, so I guess i shoudl turn it up a bit and see how it goes.

Syri

well, my system is a pentium 4 dual core 2.8, 2gb of pc4200 (533mhz) ddr2, and a 7800GT. so if yours is 'aged'...
when i tried the beta, it got 30fps with lowest possible detail, but every minute or 2 it would drop right down to below 1fps for a few seconds. totally unplayable really. just wondered if it still jumps as much, and if it scales any better.

The general chat (OOC) in-game seems to indicate a lot of people from beta think the game runs much much better now. I wasnt around to confirm this tho.

I'm able to run it smoothly on my laptop.

Dell XPS M170
PM 2.0ghz
2gb DDR2
100gb 7200rpm
7800 GTX 256mb
17in WUXGA
Vista 32bit

My desktop runs it very well with everything on high

Core 2 Extreme X6800 2.93ghz
8gb Corsair DDR2
2x WD 150gb RaptorX 10K rpm Raid 0
1gb ATI Radeon 2900XT
Dell 30in WQXGA Monitor
Vista 64bit

Good to hear though that my PC would likely run it very well.

Any update on turning up the settings?

I grouped up with Golm on his ToS, and morety on his necro last night and we gained a few levels. Our biggest problem was finding stuff to fight. Fighting in a group is definitely more chaotic, especially when one is a ToS who can essentially zap them all to death solo.

At 15 my conq got frenzy and defensive stances, and it feels like a small but noticible help.

Achilleus
05-19-2008, 12:33 PM
I guess a priest of mitra will have the easiest time getting in a group, but do you think a ToS will get groups ok? That is my highest lvl toon so far.

Cavan
05-19-2008, 12:35 PM
I must say... grouping yesterday was fun... but with my current rig... it was painful at times.... will all the graphics there were moments of lag where I wasn't moving for a while....

Hulrig
05-19-2008, 12:40 PM
Hey Spider,

i got to play a Conq. in beta. One thing that I found by being able to switch feats around for free to test them out. Was that defencesive stance seemed to work better at lower levels. With frenzy stance you do more damage but take a lot more damage also. I used a 2 handed weapon more than I did duel wield. Hope the info helps a little.

spyder913
05-19-2008, 01:39 PM
Thanks, Hulrig. I am doing a little better now that I spent some time to figure out which combos to use. They don't say how much damage they do so there is a little bit of trial and error going on.

Hulrig
05-19-2008, 01:43 PM
ya that was one thing that was hard to figure out what was the best attack skills to use. When assigning feats look to see what attack skills go with some of your feats. they give a little extra damage on some.

I started a demonologist late last night and it seems more sturdy and with higher dps than my ToS. Of course I'm not as far along with the demo yet. I will probably end up testing all the classes before I get out of Tortage, lol. The demo is definitely a very cool class.

Just realized, this is in the wrong thread, lol.

I must say that I was pretty skeptical about how flawless the launch was going to be after being in beta. The graphics are much better then Beta and the game is running very smooth for a launch title. I’ve had hardly any lag except once or twice. Which isn’t bad at all.

One of the nice features this game has is a lot of the classes get to use shields and bow/crossbow. Must MMO’s that I’ve been in was only a very few classes that got to use a shield or bow.

The magic that I’ve seen cast looks awesome. Best spells graphics I’ve seen. Can’t wait to see later on when we get crafting and a city built. I must say I’m glad I fell off the fence and got this game.

You have to enter the retail number in from your cd before you can /claim your stuff.

I got my cd but forgot to take it home yesterday.
