Getting a little closer every time on Thrang. Great run last night, even if it was a little frustrating, hope I did ok as the main assist for that Thrang fight.
Doubt I'll be able to make another attempt this week, but if we go then good luck to everyone.
For the next Rift friday, I would suggest that we plan to get up to thrang and then call it a night unless we get there MUCH quicker than usual. By the time we get to Thrang half of us seem to be fading fast (I know I'm usually holding my head up with my hand at any time that we pause). Then plan Thrang only for the next convenient time.

Nice run on Thrang last night! :) You guys are really knowlegeable with these raids. It seems that everyone goes down too quickly and it's hard to keep up with heals. If the length of my heal casting was cut in half it would be no problem. Or if my emergency heal didn't have a cooldown. I have heard that alot of the raid machine kins are now using a 3rd minstrel after the changes on Thrang and Thaurlach to correct this problem. The fact that Thrang sees through everything makes it much harder. Having a 3rd minstrel will make the fight a little longer, but may prevent a wipe. Just something to possibly try if you guys want.
I personally love this kin and can't stand those raid machine kins with how elitist and impersonable they are. But, I just wanted to toss out a possibility. At the end of the day it was a great run and I have never gotten that far to date. Thanks for taking me along! :)

Finding that 3rd mini is a little hard atm unless we give up a capt. I would like to try thrang with 1 mini and LM up top with a champ on thrang. One mini in one nook with a tank in one nook fighting 2-3 shaman and one mini in the dps nook with everyone else killing 1-2 shaman.
Like i said tho, getting 2 minis is easy enough now. Three either means Kitty is on her mini or (me or my brother) are on LLaelyn.

Although, if not on the Friday night run up, Stenric could possibly run on Sunday for the Thrang portion, giving you that third Mini. Problem is with my new job; Friday evenings are toast. The Sunday run if I may suggest...be earlier in the day/evening than we have been running. One reminder however, it is getting to be nice weather in places, and the closer we push toward Summer the less people we will see I fear. Up to you folks, but if you want Stenric to go, I can take him for Thrang on Sunday, baring any unforseen wife aggro.

I think one main reason we start when we do on Sunday is because a few people simply can't be here earlier for whatever reason. This coming sunday I am out, as I will be on a trip for a few days to San Antonio for a conference.
From a tanking standpoint, one thing that occurred to me this morning (yes I run through Rift strategies in my head during the day) is that during the shaman run, whichever tanks are on the Shamans need to be switching back and forth between the ones aggro'd on them and hitting them with shield bash/vexingblow/fray the edge routinely. Sunday night I had 3 on my side and we still managed to kill one, but then I lost one to Noveah and he resisted 3 challenges before she went down. If I had been doing more than relying on my challenge to keep the two I wasn't hitting targetted then I might not have lost that one (I think by that time Proff was already down and Frothy was falling fast so not sure it mattered).
Also, I read on the DBS Blacksheep site that if we can damage ALL of the shamans a little bit (aoe aoe aoe) then they will heal themselves first and not each other. This would help cut down on the cross healing a bit.
Have to work now, but may come back later with some other things I've been reading up on about the Thrang fight.

Yeah, ehh... didnt go that great. We didnt have a capt and only had two minis (1.5 really), so we were short healers and buffs.

I noticed another Thrang attempt is scheduled for tonight. When does the Rift reset for us? If we don't have a 3rd. minstrel then I think we can't avoid a wipe. Two were plenty before the changes, but not now in my opinion and according to what other kins are doing. I have to chain heal the entire time, so there's really no time to run around. The MOTD said be willing to stay as long as it takes. That's not possible for me on a work night. I can stay up to 12pm est. I'm off on Friday, so Thursday and Friday night I can stay up all night. I will definitely be on my minstrel for Thrang and further.
I would still like to get my guardian involved up to Thrang. Last Friday was a horrible day for me and I think it showed in the raid unfortunately. I wasn't my usual cheerful self. Having half pugs and too many hunters made it worse and very hard to get through. I'm just hammering out traits on my guard for now. I don't want Korn or anyone else to think I'm trying to butt in with my guard. I just want to get some raid practice and start getting raid gear for him.

since we normally start our rift runs on fridays our locks expire thursday mornings. I agree with u achillieus, i really don't want to run another rift run like last friday's, although i don't mind running maybe one or two fill-ins that we know. Its all cool with you bringing jaricho in, we want you to be able too, but unfortunately we don't have a kin of many mini's, but we'll try and work something out with people's alts and what not:cheese:
Now about thrang: *sigh* i hate that guy....
We've been trying for awhile to take him down, but have'nt been succesfull, and its cause their is just too much to heal. having a 3rd mini or maybe even a 2 capts could help greatly i think.
I have to be honest with you all, i'm getting burned out by trying to fill our raids with random pugs, by our vets showing up an hour and a half late, or running their alts in another rift run while we are trying to fill a group. We have the quality players in their respectful classes, i know we can beat thrang if these players are here and willing to go all the way, and i hope we get our best out there soon.
ps- I was very impressed with how well sporto made the transition to main tank, and also how korn picked it up last run, we're a kin of good tanks ach :)
pss- i'm leaving around the very end of april for around 6 months, so an "i'll pound some coffee and do whatever it takes to beat thrang" attempt would be awesome before i go

By The Way, We have the Earth Wind and Fire Jumpsuit for us all the wear tonight while killing Thrang.
Can't WAIT to see the screen shot of that!
I agree that wee need 2 capts or 3 minis. But we have so much talent in the kin that we should be able to destroy this bozo soon!
Ach... I am also trying to level my Capt so I don't have to be the dedicated rift mini.....We love to take different classes in as some of the reg crew has all they can get gem wise in there already.
Hope we can wipe Thrang soon!

I don't expect to bring my guard in for Thrang anytime soon. In fact, I would like to use my minstrel for Thrang and further. I would have done it last night, but starting 2hrs late killed it for me. I just wanted to bring my guard in for up to the 2nd or 3rd boss. Just a chance to get started on a piece of rift armour like the boots that everyone seems to have. And Zurm, potentially drops a very nice heavy shield. :) If it's mostly all kin, we seem to breeze through up to Thrang pretty easily with just 2 minstrels. I'm best with my minstrel, but I'm getting alot better with my guard as I practice. I really think with a couple of tries we can burn Thrang with 3 minstrels. :)
