Hiya lions,
I just wanted to congradulate on a job well done with all the rifting we've been doing lately, and also mention a few things that have been on my mind also....
Now that the lions have starting rifting, I think it may be time to start thinking ahead of the first 4 bosses, and to start tackling thrang along with the everseer and his buddy (the balrog, ewwws). I know kitty, mallory, and wodenn have beaten thrang (sorry if i leave anyone out), and i think their input can greatly increase our chances of beating him.
I do not know the details of this fight, but i do know a few facts....
Thrang will wound you something fierce, so pls bring the high level wound pots.
Fire damage weapons work the best when he is de-buffed by fumeroles.
He is a very long fight, so noveah, if we can start saving our critted hope tokens, it would help us :)
And the most important factor of all...pls listen to kitty and know exactly where and what your role is!
For the guards out there, pls un-slot your vexing blow trait, its just another aoe skill that can break a mezz...(and kitty gives me 3 lashings everytime a guard breaks a mezz):uhoh:
Also, if u need hope or food (lembas, agility, might, vit) pls let us know so we can get it to you. It is all relatively cheap, so don't worry about cost, I would like to see all of you with some food buff atleast, it'll give u just that much more.
I know for a fact we can beat thrang, we have the players and all the right tools to be one of the few kins in meneldor to go all the way, so lets do this! i'm excited for our first attempt at thrang....and he drops the helm which is frickin awesome:cheese:
I'm sorry if this turned out to be an essay, or if it bothered anyone in anyway. I would truly appreciate your feed back on this post, and any other tips that would help us in general.
Ps- if you have any tips for your class, it may help your fellow champs, guards, mini's, etc....
Pss-damn turbine nerfed my name, so now i'm proff:bang:

When it comes to strategy, advice, etc for thrang and his buddies, I am all ears. I'd like to hear a thorough walkthrough by someone who has been to the end before we take our shots at them.
Since we whiffed last 2 days on getting enough to go, what is our next target date for a attempt and do we have some backup names for the crucial classes in case we cant fill up the "must have" spots??
Thanks,
Xy
PS----if we have a lock that hasnt expired in the Rift, does that affect whether or not I can go on a new raid with a totally separate group during that lock time?? Just curious cause I had 2 invites last weekend but was unsure if that would affect my ability to go back with our original group..............TY

Well here is my 2 coppers for the champs, please try to acquire weapons with different damage types. If you need help with funds, let me know and something will be arranged. If you're partial to 2H swords, Flame-Tongue is the best fire damage weapon in that class. You've seen what I carry many times, find the ones that fit your play style the best.
Clobber is your friend, learn the animations that you need to interupt, and try not to stack attacks so you can get it off quickly. I'm guilty of that, and am slowly learning to let my auto-attack fire between skills. Also, please go slow at the start of the fights, we need to let the tanks gain aggro and build it up enough that we aren't pulling the mobs off them with our massive damage attacks. Remember it's not just having aggro that keeps the mobs on the tank, but having more aggro than anything in their aggro range that lets the tank take more shots than we do. Book 12 is going a long way to reduce the cost of repairs for heavy shields so tanks should start having repair bills more like champs.
Work on your traits please (everyone). I know it's a grind and is boring, but while killing dourhands in Sarnur this weekend I got some awesome T5 single shot recipes (right Dewy?, I got another one of those on Sunday which I put on AH and it was gone in 30 mins at 1G buyout). When you go in, stay to the left and there is a door flagged Sarnur's Keep, go in there for the best drops. There are lvl 48/49 dourhands, wargs and goblins, be careful with your pulls, I got 6 once because of respawns and quickly found myself on one knee. Only 230 more to go. You'll not see a lot of people in there so not a lot of competition for mobs, you may get lucky and there is a elite named that drops a shard and some other purple stuff.
We're doing really well and I think Friday nights slow start was due to having a week off and me being in the group throwing off the rythym some.
If you need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Hraland.. great champ thread.
I don't think a lot of people understand the concept of letting the tank get a little aggro built up before going nuts with dps. It is something I think about pushing, but I am usually more concerned with people breaking my mez :)
I might be MIA from LOTRO for a bit. I am having some technical difficulties with my compooper at the moment... speaking of which i should make a tech forum post.

well, for thrang ive learned a LM free way to do it...sry nanuq, once your back you will make life a ton easier..also, wanted to mention to be prepared if your planning to rift, there are lots of crafters in kin, please dont wait till the last minute, essentials: heal/pow pots, food..both buff and hots, hope tokens!!! only for thrang do we need the 30 min critted ones, a few different weapon types (ie. fire is good for thrang)..also important, proper traits slotted, battle and warding lores are nice as well! being fully repaired helps, tho im guilty of that most the time..just an fyi..when i sell heal pots on the AH..i average 900s per 10..so think ahead of time ^.^ for hunters, the fire oil rocks for thrang, help your crafters out by materials! (i wouldnt say no to a tip either *wink*) however, ive noticed our raids are being held up because everyone is scrambling to get food/hope/pots..or were scrambling to make them, if were prepared, we can leave earlier and get done earlier! ok..for thrang..wound pots!!
strategy: there are 3 waves of ghastra..we tuck in tight in a corner, kill all but the last summoner (third wave) we lock him down in a mezz (burg or LM), then get in position for shamans
6 shamans come..if we are in position, one group per cubby, they will split and each group needs to take down 3..if we stay tucked tight, thrang has no los on us, so no wounding..once the shamans are down, we all end up on the stairs, the main tank kiting thrang in a circle and dragging him to the exploding pimples (fumeroles) he gets momentarily debuffed, during which we all beat on him (fire damage weapons ftw), the tank will get wounded and stunned without a LM..but if we have an LM, then MT can have immunity..rinse repeat until thrang is dead :)
P.s. xy..yes you are locked out on that toon till the lock expires

Good discussion all. I have worked thrang a different way most of the times I've played him (shamens same, but rest down on floor) but have seen what kitty describe work just as well and requires fewer people to play with excellence considering lots of new folks still.
I am not playing as much but will watch forums for raid times and look to be there, esp for the next 2/1 one. I am especially interested in Helegrod or running book 12 with kin. Was working on alts but just too bored with lvl'ing so removed them and don't find the regular gameplay (farming, mining, etc) engaging anymore. Still enjoy the company and many nice folks tho so I am around raids. Send me a mail if you are looking for any special weapons and I will gladly work on finding or making it for you at my expense. Outside game mail to junkmail9191@gmail.com (i do check it, just not everyday!). Peace.

Oh, I also agree on the great champ post Hral. Groups still seem to struggle with how important a well played tank is. Avg ministrels, hunters, champs, burgs, you can live... but if the tank doesn't play well and if everyone doesn't let him do his job (as hral described, letting him build up aggro) every fight is a potential disaster. PC is my hero lol.

nice afterthought wod, well said..these raids are basically one strategy wins, but if the classes arent played right (and not just tanks) everone dies, and we do stay on the floor, no one goes up the stairs till thrang is being kited :P seriously.. i never could understand how farming and crafting were engaging....

From the looks of it, I will be out until the 5th. My vid card is shot. I can only keep my cimputer running for about 10 minutes or so depending on how much I do, then the screen flashes a couple times and everything basically locks up. My educated guess is that part of the VRAM is bad and it locks up when it gets to that point.
I ordered a new and improved vid card, but it wont be delivered until the 5th :(
Hopefully, that fixes the problem... or else, i will be running around replacing parts until it works again :)
