I had a crappy day yesterday. Just crappy. In just about all ways. But I was looking forward to logging on, kicking some ass (be it RvR or PvE) with some Lions, hopefully getting 39 and my 8sec bub.
:hump:

So I try and log on last night. Initial handshake sounds a little weird. I check my numbers and connect rate is really low. Oh well, so I discon/recon, get on at a healthy 40-something K, log on to DAoC, manage to say hello to everyone before I lag out and LD.

Irritated but undaunted, I reboot incase my otherwise reliable winmodem was being a bitch. This time when I try to connect, I hear it. Static on the modem speaker. I pick up the phone and it's so loud I can't put it to my ear.

I tried calling the phone company but I literally couldn't hear the tech on the other end through the static (it got mysteriously worse the moment I got connected to a live operator). On a false hope I left it alone, thinking maybe it was a spike. But no, it's still there this morning, just as annoying.
:fuct:

So... bleah. The Druish Princess is going to try and call the phone company from her parents' this afternoon, but it's looking like we might be without internet and DAoC for the weekend. Which means I'll probably be shaking by the time Monday rolls around.

It's so not going to be soon enough when we get the Road-Runner.

That sucks, dude.

And I dinged last night and everything.

At least this gives me a chance to catch up. ;)

But I'll be catching up while feeling sympathetic. :whining:

Did you try the old hair dryer on the phone line trick~

When we first moved in to our duplex, our cable modem would quit working after it rained and the sun came out. I called the tech, and he blamed it on sun spots. I took out the handy dandy milwauke heat gun and blasted the line back to life.

Another problem I experienced was when I happened to move my CAT5 line adjacent to several power supplies plugged into the power strip. The EMI was enough to intermittantly hose my internet connection.
