new video card

I just got a radeon x1900 GT crossfire, are these good cards? Seemed to rate high on alot of tests. Anyone got one of these?

It's one of ATI's best cards atm, I believe right below the 1950.

It's not dx10 compatible though, but dx10 games won't be out for a few more months yet. The only one so far that is dx10 compatible is the nvidia 8800.

And you'll also need Windows Vista.. because only Vista supports DX10...

Heh, i only asked if anyone had one. I was going to get it regardless. I did some research and found these to be excellent cards. It is one step down from the 500$ 1950, but at half the cost.

It's cheap because it will be worthless in a year. You can't upgrade to windows vista and dx10 with it :/

It would only be worthless if in a year your computer would stop working if you didnt upgrade to vista & dx10.

You don't need to have a video card that is DX10 ready to get vista either. So it wouldn't be useless, you just couldn't play games that required DX10

I know that it will work on Vista, dx10 is a different story. I am not too concerned about that yet. new games that will require dx10 i am pretty sure are some ways off. I cant imagine that game makers would try and make games like that at this point.

The ati cards that support dx10 won't be out until march/april. Crysis looks to be the first of the dx10 games in the works. No point in getting a card just for dx10 until then.

yea, also spending $589 for a Directx 10 card versus the one i got for $239 was a no brainer, at least for me.

Well, the new $300 8800 gts doesn't look that bad. the 320 meg memory doesn't become a factor until you're playing on a 30" display, apparently. Still no reason to buy it now.

yea, the 8800 isnt bad, but alot of performance tests didnt have that one as high as i expected.

I own a 1900XT Pro Platinum Diamond Vagina edition. I don't have any complaints, I also purchased the crossfire motherboard (an Asus MVP board) so when that card can't push the games I can just slap another one in there to help me along. We'll have a bit before DX10 games become the norm.
