Real men can wear pink.

Just because they can doesn't mean they do. Destruction ftw

Assuming that Warhammer gets enough people playing that aren't keeping up with it constantly like us relatively hard-core gamers, Order (read: "good") will be the most populated (like in WoW and DAoC). So I'd like to go to the opposite side.

Yes, I know that Order / Albion / Alliance isn't really "good" per se, but you know what I mean.

I know what you mean Post, but I think the beta will show the darkness has a stronger attraction to the regular WAR players. Either way, I voted for the least popular side

See, I'd think so, too. Personally, I think horde has tons more to offer than alliance when it comes to character variety and overall content. Humans are still the most popular race, alliance the most popular faction.

So, either human - alliance has a stronger attraction, or being "good and normal" are the major contributor to the choice of race and side. Which do you think it is?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard somewhere that there were more nightelves than all the other alliance races put together.

That was the from the initial polls, but actual gameplay shows otherwise:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php

And this is people that have installed the add-on, and are more "in the know" than most others who would care about starter race stats and stuff like that. You'd be amazed at how many people don't even have any add-ons installed. I can't fathom playing without them, myself.

Overall, even with net gain of bonuses that night elves have over humans, they still choose humans more often.

Chaos Humans, Dark Elves... We'll have to do another poll before release and figure it out once we see the beta results

When CoH came out.. every body played the good guy because thats all that there was. When the Villans version came out... didn't everybody go evil?
Seems to me that would be the case again... all evil players.
The good side seems like it will be the underdog side, yet again. (Just like Hibernia ;) )

But they were simply the "new" thing for CoH / CoV. In every game I can think of, where one side good be construed as "good" and the other side comes out at the same time, they're the ones most populated.

I would contend that the majority of the noobs that don't have any addons (and thus are not included in the poll) are nightelves.

Why, though? The more you know about the game, the more you realize that the net gain in the Night Elves' racial benefits outweigh the benefits of the Humans. Why would the scale in population go in the opposite direction of that?

As long as I can have long white hair, I'll be cool. Oh, and I will require hugs on a regular basis from Ailia, Figgy and Sticky. Those two things, I'm golden. :)

Cuz noobs want elves with glowing eyes that do backflips and the more experienced people (who aren't already horde) will forego the racial benefits simply to NOT be a night elf. My 2 cents anyway...

In terms of recognizeable archetypes Order has
priest
wizard
knight

Chaos doesn't have any common named units

depending on what you will see in the manual or at character creation select screen the names of the classes have a large influence on what people start with. DAoC didn't really explain the characters too well in the manual that shipped with the game, so people went with what was familiar for the most part- Albion.

I think in DAoC the reason Albion was so over populated compared to the others in the beginning is because what is the one thing that everyone knows there? Camelot? how many people have ever heard of Jordheim, or Tir Na Nog. I think everyone wanted to be a knight of the round table in King Arthurs court. So that's why Albion was populated more heavily.

Also like Yogg said in Albion there's wizard, Paladin, cleric, sorcerer.... all names people can identify with. Still now theurgs are a great class in albion and they are still under populated with them most likely because people don't like the name

While hibernia has things like Champion, eldritch, enchanter, nightshade, druid (everyone knows this one but was it a popular class in D&D or other games prior?)

Midgard has runemaster, healer (obvious what this is but does it sound fun? and it doesn't sound like a cleric to me), shadowblade etc..

Imagine killing a green mob, and sitting down because you're at half life. It takes four or five minutes to heal up while stealthed... Repeat.
