I was fooling around near DL and saw a shitload of death messages start scrolling in, and I hear "Albs at DL" in /as. So I figure I might look around and see if I can take some cheap shots, leech a few rp's, whatever.
I see bodies lying in the gorge.....and Mazumi death messages. I take a look around and judge that there's only one real effective place to be shooting from at that range(up on the east hill, it's almost at the zone ceiling and offers unobstructed field of fire into the valley). I decide "What the Hell, gonna die anyway, maybe I can find out where she is and report findings on /as..."
Stealth up. Move around the far side of the hill the long way, get around to the east side, and hug the zone wall, maintaining maximum elevation advantage. Sure enough, almost exactly where I'd expect a sniper to be shooting from, this 34 ranger with his mighty 22 stealth skill uncovers a purple Saracen Phoenix Knight, who just turns out to be *surprise* Maz.
Still in that "What the hell" mentality, I line up a shot, and she splits. I lose tracking, pick her up again a few yards to the west, then lose her again. I backtrack a bit, knowing that she's onto me for sure, and move for the high ground to minimize elevation advantage and therefore, range.
I type for a sec like a frenzied madman and have just enough time to get out "/as maz, e hill" and start moving again before the first shot hits me for 505dmg.
I smack /face and close to melee range easily, she gets off another shot, I evade it (talk about a lucky dice roll!), then I'm in her face and I brutally mash my weapon, /stick, and style keys to get melee started as quickly as possible(4, 5, 6, 7 on my keyboard).
Suddenly, time slows down and I swear the external view should have been replaced by a Matrix pan-around.......for what seems like eternity, but what was really only 3sec(draw time, non-crit shot), I'm standing there like an idiot /stuck to her and wondering why the hell nothing is happening.
I look down and see the classic message: "You can't enter melee mode with a fired weapon!" I think: "Oh, SHIT" and maul 4, 5, and 7 one more time. Nada. I eat another shot for 500 dmg, and then, ironically, the corpse I leave behind is holding 2 swords instead of a bow......the command did indeed go through. Just not as quickly as I would have liked. I release and run to the healer, laughing hysterically the whole way.
Needless to say, I'm more eager than ever to advance to 50, especially if it's that easy to see her stealthed. I doubt it would have made a difference, but I wish I could've smacked her at least once. :) That about sums it up...wish I could've got it on tape, lol.
