Weather is getting colder, so thought I'd share this one. It's a little more time consuming than some recipes because you have to make all the meatballs to put into the stew mixture.... It's worth the effort though!

Meatball Stew
(serves around 6)

1 pound ground beef (lean)
2 8-ounce cans of tomato sauce
1 green pepper (diced)
1 pkg frozen peas
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 pkg. (envelope) dry onion soup mix
2 or 3 potatoes
1/4 cup bread crumbs
3 or 4 cups of water
2 or 3 carrots

Combine ground beef, 1 can of tomato sauce, egg, salt and bread crumbs in a bowl. Form mixture into meatballs and fry them in oil. Turn a few times until brown. Remove and set aside, draining oil from pan. In large pot, add sliced carrots, green pepper, peas, onion soup mix, the other can of tomato sauce, cubed potatoes and water. Add meatballs and bring to boil. Then cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes.
