One-on-one a Squig is no match for the likes of a Hammerer or Ironbreaker, but the problem there isn’t the match, it’s the numbers. The toothy embrace of a pack of Squigs has brought down many a hearty warrior, and a Squig pack is never more effective than in the hands of an expert Herder. Using tools ranging from pipes to goads to bits of giblets, the Squig Herder drives his minions to a killing frenzy while fighting safely behind the lines. The Herder’s own ranged fire combines with the attacks of his minions to challenge any foe.
Squig Herder Specialty

Commanding a pack of Squigs culled from those types he has learned to train, the Squig Herder can inflict serious damage on his enemies. With experience, he can learn to tame a broad range of breeds, control more powerful Squigs, and acquire more specialized abilities such as taking direct control of his Squig. His minions will even fight on after his death, wandering off only when the battle is done.
Playing as a Squig Herder
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/squigherder07s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/squigherder07.jpg) As a Squig Herder you lead from the rear, turning your Squigs loose on the enemy and supporting them with commands, arrows and bait while safely out of harm’s way. The most critical elements of your strategy revolve around your choice of Squigs for your pack, and the abilities you use to support them. Your various breeds offer you tools for different situations, and you must mix and match them to meet your needs. Tactically speaking, your job is to kill the enemy while avoiding his counter-attacks – both you and your Squigs are deadly but fragile beasts.
Fighting the Squig Herder
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/squigherder08s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/squigherder08.jpg) The Squig Herder is essentially a fire-support career who wishes to hit you without being hit. As such, you’ll need to deny him that opportunity. Attacking him or his pets early – either one, as the pets will live on after their master’s death – is a sound strategy which will quickly reduce his damage dealing power. You must also be alert however, as Squigs can bypass your own line with their fast leaping movements and strike at your back field. You must strike a balance between the defenses you can muster against enemy melee fighters and the nasty beasts gnawing at your heels.

Yes, the Squig Herder looks way cool! I figure the longer term importance is determining a balanced group within whatever "alliance" we join. Furthermore, I have this impression that longer term that the ultimate PvP ownage will come from a group that consists of classes from all 3 'regions' of the alliance. I do not know if this means that we have various guilds (of those of us that already work together) join the various regions of the same server and alliance with the longer term goal of hitting the front lines with the ultimate weapon. Yes, I am likely way ahead of what is realistic, but this looks to have quite a bit of potential if planned right. Figure we should try to be the big kid on the block early while everyone else is still gathering a clue.

I'm pretty sure your guild will be able to include all three races of either alliance. Figuring out group dynamics is going to be a big guess... until we get into beta :D

Playing as an Ironbreaker
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/Ironbreaker01s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/Ironbreaker01.jpg) As an Ironbreaker, your goal is to get between your friends and your foes and use your defensive abilities to absorb and deflect attacks. If you can’t immediately claim a foe’s attention, your grudge bonuses begin to make you a problem foes can’t ignore as you grow more and more potent in your defense of your allies. Obviously, Ironbreakers truly shine in groups but even solo they are quite capable as long as they can get close enough to wear down foes with their axe or hammer.
Playing as a Hammerer
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/Hammerer03_s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/Hammerer03.jpg) As a Hammerer your job is relatively simple: Hit things hard! Your strength will grow the longer the fight runs, so your best tactics put you in battle quickly and focus on dropping a single foe. However, it’s important that you plan ahead within the fight. When your enemy falls to your hammer you must keep your momentum going or risk losing it. This means you must always be on the lookout for another target to engage even as you break out of your current fight. Playing a Hammerer is straight forward but challenging – place the right blows at the right time on the right target and you will emerge victorious.
Playing as an Engineer
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/dw_armor_engineer3s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Dwarfs/Careers/images/dw_armor_engineer3.jpg) As an Engineer, the heart of your job is to rain destruction on the heads of your enemies. Like other ranged combatants, you prefer to avoid the frontline. However, unlike most other ranged classes, you reach the peak of your power at a relatively short range. You must maneuver wisely, positioning yourself so that you can strike at your target without exposing yourself to their attacks. You are a capable melee fighter, and you can strike at extended range, but your best attacks – grenades, blunderbusses, artillery bombardment, and more – require a closer position.
Playing as a Black Orc
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/BlackOrc02s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/BlackOrc02.jpg) Combat for a Black Orc revolves around engaging and defeating enemies one at a time, while weathering the fire of their allies. As a front line fighter, the Black Orc is well equipped to withstand the attacks of his enemies. Though protected by shield and armor, and possessing a hearty constitution, his greatest strength lies in his ability to disable his primary opponent. His use of jarring blows and unexpected attacks allow the Black Orc to exploit the openings they create to reduce the enemy’s ability to fight back.
Playing as a Shaman
http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/GShaman03_s.jpg (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Greenskins/Careers/images/GShaman03.jpg) As a Shaman, you’ll have to walk a careful line in balancing your offensive and support abilities. You can achieve the greatest rate of healing by focusing on that skill exclusively. You can maximize your rate of damage by focusing purely on those abilities. However, focusing on a single talent will lessen your overall impact on the battle. The strength your support skills gain from an ongoing Waaagh! is significant. Using your offensive magic to contribute directly to the fight will increase the power of your support magic, allowing you to better help your group.

That's all the careers posted to date.
I like the looks of a squig herder the best, followed by engineer. But there's still many more yet to come.

I like the sounds of a hammerer for the dwarves. that's if we go dwarves. I'm going to hopefully not pick a gimpy toon. even though I'm quite sure I'll play them gimpily (is that a word?)

I just love the fact that there is no stealth and no main healer. All classes are DPS classes in design.

Squig Herder sounds fun until you remember that 60% of the server will be stealthers who can one shot you.

...no stealthers in this game

Even if there were, the pets fight your opponents after you die and it'd basically be a suicide run for them to try that.

No stealthers? That's good. Okay, let's go with an archer of some sort then. One little pluck, and *poomf* that guy will go down

I've always played an all offensive melee character, like a rogue and shadowblade. This time I will go support shaman, and find somebody who wants to tank for me. Who's up for powerlevel style?
