I have too admit I'm getting excited about the possiblity. I'm not gonna do anything at first to make sure that I don't get screwed by some change that occurs after I use my respec. Hero's should be pretty safe in this regard though since they are considered to be finished. Before respec I was gonna be a hybrid hero by specing blade 39/shield 42/ and LW 40+. With respec I'll probably drop shield and blades and respec in LW/Parry after level 42. It's my understanding that LW/CS heros are much better at RvR because of the damage they deal, and the lack of blocking/parrying in RvR. What ever your on plans are I would suggest waiting until at least one patch after the respec patch before doing anything.

I thought I read that this was one of the so-called 'strike teams' tasks... fixxing parry/block in RvR especially re: countering opponent styles.

They consider blocking/parrying vs. styles to be working as intended. The problem is that no fight lasts long enough for either player to run out of end, so blocking/parrying in RvR is essentially useless. I think what they're going to focus on still is making fights last longer.

I'm very happy with the template that I'm following for Phantos, so I most likely will not be respeccing.

At level 25 and again at level 40 you are going to be able to reset a line back to 0 and then spend them again how ever you like. Let's say you feel like you screwed up by spending points in blades. At 25 you can reset blade to zero and then use those points to train stealth, or pathfinding, etc... You get to do this again at level 40.

I'm wondering if we can save both respecs to the end. I'm thinking of making one of everybody's favorite characters, a stealth archer. and since the template i am considering for end game would be a bitch to get to i could focuson a PvE templete and then respec the lines for an RvR template. I kinda don't like the whole respec thing for this reason... seems to me it takes out some of strategy and tradeoffs for the two game types.

i don't think i'll ever need to respec, since my speccing goes pretty easily....

level, run to tnn, X points in mana....

My understanding is that you could do what you are thinking. Make a good PVE template, then sometime in your 40s respec two lines to make a better RvR char. I can see how pure RPG Players would find this offensive but I like it.

I think I may do it, too. I like Gondo fine the way he is and by balancing Mana/Void I've been pretty versatile in the PvE world. However, for RvR I think I would prefer to be a little different. Accordingly, I'm thinking about respeccing to about 26/28 Light and the rest Void. We have plenty of Mana chars in the guild, so my thought is I can still have my nasty void damage, but also have the AOE mez that the light spec gets. This could be great for RvR. It would also give me some good heat based spells for mobs that resist cold, since currently all my best stuff (mana and void) are cold based.

Don't hope too much for this as the purge and heal will both break mez. It won't be a great part of the game any more.

Bards need the Pete Townsend spell where they smash their guitars on the enema's heads for ubAr damage since their only toy, mez, was taken away.

Well Rangers can now kiss stealth goodbye also.

I am really getting tired of this and honestly playing this game is starting to not be fun anymore. If the "see thru stealth" stuff goes in for assassins I will be forced to respec my char and totally change the way I've played this game since Dec.

Mythic is making mistakes with the direction they are taking, and if it continues they will lose my money to Asherons Call 2.

yeah i'm probably going to tone down the ammount of stealth my guy was going to have, but my peircers will be much happier for it... i might even have points to put in cd!

honestly tho, a good ranger spec for pve is almost the same as pvp.. only difference is the ammount of stealth, and that is nice when you're in hostile territory even with just mobs...

I'm toying with the idea of respecing Boomy as full nurture, using him to powerlevel everyone, then respecing him back to my original plan. :)

I'm not as worried about the realm abilities as everyone else. I was looking a character planner thingy for realm abilities (like what catacomb is for skill planning), and its really hard to get all the stuff you want. There is just no way that even 1/8th of the people in RvR are going to have purge. Sure, you only have to be Rank 2 to get purge (it costs 10 points), so Boomy could have it right now, but only if he had nothing else whatsoever. And there are a lot of other realm skills that are more tempting then purge. I don't think Boomie will ever get purge, and he still wouldn't have enough points to get the other things he desperately needs.

Bah, I can't find the realm ablity planner thingy now, but I played with it for a while and even if Boomie got to rank 10 level 10 (yeah right) he wouldn't be able to get the higher levels of the abilities that make him get interrupted less while casting (gotta have that) that make him cast faster (gotta have that) that make his spells do more damage (ght) that make him crit more (ght) and make him get resisted less (ght). And even if he could get all of that, there would still be 4 or 5 skills on his "gotta have" list before he would think about purge. Even if 1/2 the people on the battlefield get purge (it'll never happen), a druid can aoe root them on the first encounter, they all purge (er, half of them purge) and then a bard can mezz and they are stuck. And they can't use purge again for 1/2 hour. And only Druids get group purge, so you won't mezz a group of Albs and have one of them purge them all out. Only the few who have purge, and haven't used it in a half hour will unmezz themselves.

And then there is the healing thing. You can't cast heal while mezzed. If you aoemezz a group of albs, the heal breaking mezz thing will not help them. If you mezz 20 albs battle, and a healer runs up to them and starts casting a heal, or a healer purges himself and starts casting a heal, every hib ranger and caster will be all over that healer. Even the dumb ones. So if you mezz 20 albs, maybe 2 or 3 can purge, and maybe a healer can unmezz one or 2 before he gets ripped apart (if its a healer with group heal and his entire group is mezzed, then he has a shot of unmezzing them all, but I have never ever ever been in a situation where my entire group except for me was mezzed). You still have 15 albs mezzed for the next 90 seconds, and 3-5 live ones who will in big trouble.

The way I see it, its what people have been asking for. A chance to possibly sometimes do something maybe if you are mezzed. I still think that 90% of the time I get mezzed, I will stay mezzed till it runs out, or till I die. All I get now is a small chance that a healer might be able to unmezz me without getting himself killed. And if I do get purge at some point, I will be able to break one mezz every half hour. Believe me, I get mezzed way more than twice an hour in RvR.

I hope Ailia don't get mad at me for this post. ;) But I just honestly think that mezzing hasn't become a worthless skill because of real abilities. We all said something should be done to give people some way to deal with mezz some of the time, because RvR is really all about who gets the mezz off first.

Maybe I am wrong, and the realm abilities really will make mezz a nonfactor. I really hope not. I don't want to see that. I just want a glimmer of hope that someone might be able to help me if I get mezzed.

If they give any class an aoe heal ability, then aoe mezzers will truly be screwed. A guy could kamakazee into his mezzed friends and cast aoe heal and unmezz them all. But there is no aoe heal.

This post is already to long. But NERF ASSASSINS (except Dil). Now with true sight they are going to take out rangers almost as easily as they take out casters. I don't mind one class having a large advantage over another class in RvR. But I just don't like anything being a guaranteed 100% win. When an assassin sees a caster, its a guaranteed 100% win. PA, if done correct, no can defend. Give casters a 20% chance of surviving and I'll be happy. When I'm at full health and fully buffed and have my bladeturn up and suddenly see "You have died," it just seems unfair.
