View Full Version : I think I have comp troubles?

There's a higher pitched fan-buzz sound coming from my computer.... and I know I didn't hear it before... I'm not sure what's making that sound.

???

And also my monitor keeps "blinking"... kind of like a self de-gauss. It makes a lot of click-static-click-static noises when i turn it off too (rather than just one).

Is my monitor dying? what's with that other sound from the computer too??

Not sure about the monitor but the sound in your comp might be a fan in your comp, when my processor fan was going out it made a high pitch fan buzz noise.

Jing, the monitor thing.. yes, it's dying. That's exactly what mine did. KDS replaced it no charge (I just had to ship them mine after they sent me a new one).

As for the whine, you need to try and narrow it down to a specific fan inside.

Yeah, for the fan it could be as simple as a wire hitting the blades. But more than likely the bearings are wearing out or warped (heat will warp them, so if your computer runs hot theres a higher chance of warping your bearings and causing fan failures)

Jing take the cover off and look. Also it could be the power supply. A fan or transformer in power supply can make that noise.
Or maybe it's telling u to stop using the cd tray as a beer holder.

lmao...

I have a Viewsonic GS771... It's got to be like, 3 years old at least... but not mroe than 4. Should i bitch to them or something?

As for the fan, it stopped making that sound... i guess it only does it sometimes? Is it like, a critical thing to replace? I've never run into that sort of problem... I've had this comp for a little over a year now

thanks in advance guys =)

imo a fan is cheap to replace, but it keeps your system from overheating and some potentially serious damage.

I put a slot fan just below my videocard just to make sure it's cooled off.

The fan on my 450mhz was making a bad noise at one point. I took it off, took it apart, put WD-40 on the moving parts, put everything back together, and it was good to go.

But we decided that Ali didn't need as much beer so we took one of her drives out. (She had two drives) Now she has a trash can hole instead! :fuct: :cheese:

If the fan has stopped making that noise is it still turning or did it give up?
Not always good to have a fan stop making noise.
Thanks to roo i now have 2 beer holders but when i use top one it keeps knocking off my beer in bottom one.

Any Trinitron tube will do.

I like KDS's warranty setup.

Viewsonic has a good rep.

Do not buy a Magtronic.
