Im excited but I really dislike all the changes they are making to the characters.
They are probably going to fit Venom into the end of that movie (played by Topher Grace, ug) with out doing some of the best story arcs in marvel history. No Sin Eater, No Space Wars, No Mr Fantastic and so on. The Eddie Brock in this movie is going to be totaly different than the awesome anti hero venom is in the comics.
On top of that the black alien costume looks like crap. Its just a black version of the spider-man costume. Rather than the smooth black costume with a white spider symbol. I fear what Venom is going to look like. I personally think they are going to make venom just a "shadow" version of spider-man. he will look just like the black costumed parker in SM3 and not the venom from the comics.
Im really happy with Flint Marko AKA Sandman being in the movie. While he wasnt my favorite villian. He had some of the best fight sceens. I mean you can do some seriously creative and wierd fights with a guy who is made of living sand.

Im going to watch the movie. I just have to remind myself that this isnt really isnt the same spider-man from the comics i read when I was a kid.

I hope they keep up the fact that the suit is alive and morphs. So he can change his outfits at any time. He better have his tentical moves thats for sure.
The rumors going around are that venom will only appear in the very end when peter gets rid of the suit at the bell tower (just like in the comics, but it would be better if they did a cross over with Mr Fantastic first, but whatever lol) where the suit drips away and finds Eddie Brock and he becomes Venom. they apparently have a huge fight at the end that is suppose to be amazing.
To bad Venom wont be almost twice the size of spider man like in the comics. It was always awesome to see Peter take out Eddie when Eddie as clearly stronger and bigger. Although it would also be nice to see them show off just how powerful spider-man is. In the comics Spider-man would be catching the cars and throwing them back.

Basically, they're doing what they did in Spider-man the animated series in the 1990s for Venom. The whole thing where the Astronaut (sp?) John Jameson guy comes back in a space shuttle and some weird black oil's attached to the outter hull, and Spider-man saves him, only to get this oil somehow on his costume...later to discover that the oil is a symbiot.
I have to say, though, Yarr...those Venom fights were always great. I do hope they make Venom huge, like he's supposed to be.

Yeah damn right that would be awesome haha. He needs his crazy teeth, he needs his slime and he needs that almost psycho appeal.

Try to remember that this is like a 60 year old comic... there's no possible way they would be able to actually advance the story if they followed every story line. Similar to the way they filmed the Lord of the Rings movies...
I just try to enjoy the movies for what they are and not pick them apart too badly. If I did, I could never enjoy any movie ever made about a comic book hero.
While we're on this topic, the best movie I've seen so far that actually stuck to a story line for a comic book hero was probably The Punisher (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330793/). It wasn't perfect, but I thought it did a great job as a tribute to the actual story line.

Im not really that nit picky and I can accept most the strange changes Rami does with Spider-man. However, somethings are just URL="http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=7050"]Stupid[/URL].
I mean really, the origins of spider-man and how he came to be spider-man should not be changed. If you want to give Green Goblin a really stupid metalic costume, fine. If you want to make Doc Ock "good guy" who was influenced by "evil metal arms" than fine. If you want to take Spider-man's mask off infront of tons and tons of people, fine.
However, they are going to far in this movie IMO.

Yeah but in the 89 Batman, Tim Burton had The Joker kill Bruce Wayne's Parents. The Joker is a master villian in the Batman world. The Joker often kills people and is known to be pretty much insane. Killing innocent people isnt anything new to him.
Flint Marko AKA Sandman isnt like that. Hes a petty thug turned into a super villian (more like super thug) due to an accident while he was hiding out on a beach. Marko isnt someone who kills innocent people. Hes just a normal petty thug. He doesnt come up with big master plans or anything complicated like that. The idea of Marko killing an innocent person is pretty out there for his character.
