I actually cooked in college. My famous 5 cheese lasagna and other home cooked delights. Until I ran out of money. Then I made odd things of whatever was left in my pantry. The one that stands out in my mind was one semi-softish potato, one bendy carrot, and half a packet of lipton onion soup mix, baked in foil. Mmmm!

If you must eat ramen, add some chopped veggies and stir in a scrambled egg just before you take it off the stove for some nutritional content. ;)

We couldn't cook in our dorms unless you count the microwave.

My method for top ramen is to remove the water and use about 1/2 to 2/3 of the seasoning on the noodles.

Part of the reason I like it is because of the high sodium content. MMMM!

You could just eat cardboard and get the same flavor. Which I believe is none

Not all ramen are soup. I liked eating the dry japanese ramen. You rinse the cooked noodle then mix in the toppings before eating. It's been years but I found it to be very tasteful.

In college, I used to do group study with my asian buddies and we'll take turn making instant noodle. Some days, we'll cook ramen with veggies, egg, and fish paste. Other days we would crack open roasted eel or sardine cans to go with the soup.

Of all the flavor, I think my favorite one would be the pho instant noodle ones.

Another variation I used to use on this recipe:

Upon completion of the noodles add 1/4 tsp salt.

It enhances the flavor and makes it so much better.

The Korean Ramen instant noodles are good too. You can get the spicy seafood kind or the dry kind, forget what that is called but its got a brown sweet sauce. I had a korean roomate who used to get homemade Kim Chee sent down from her mom. Yummy stuff.

Man... that much salt can not be good for anything. That recipe is a heartattack in waiting...

I think Sparky is saying 1/4 tsp INSTEAD of the seasoning packing, not in addition to the seasoning packet.

At least I hope that is what he is saying. That seasoning packet has enough salt to stop a rhino. :X

Yeah, and one glass of wine helps your heart. Better be safe and drink a few gallons per day!

When I do eat ramen (once every 5 years?), that's very close to what i do... definitely the soy sauce & sesame oil! I'd scramble a raw egg and stir it in like egg drop soup though. ;)

you can definately add scrambled eggs......but the yolk dissolving in the broth is the secret.....it gives a great flavor and i reccomend, after your five years is up,that you try it with hard boild or just cook the egg in the broth itself.

Ivyrielle

Oh, by scramble, i should clarify I just mean the mixing of the white/yolk with a fork, not cooking it in a skillet first. ;)

Raw egg, into the broth... pour it slowly while you stir, and it's like egg drop soup. ;)
