I downloaded elder scrolls oblivion and found that I needed a much better graphics card to be able to even load the game. So I went to best buy and looked at the prices. $350 for a decent one. Um, F that! I bought an XBOX360 for $550 and got a ton of games, along with the XBox version of oblivion :P

I heard the load times on the XBOX 360 for Oblivion are horrible - and the controls are wonky.

Is everybody happy with the Xbox?
Or are they just killing time waiting for the Sony Playstation 3?
I just read too that the PS3 will have the HD quality BluRay DvD player. Sounds like a cheaper way to upgrade the DVD.
of all the next gen consoles, i think the ps3 grabs my interest the most. But on the subject of graphics cards, i'd sooner spend £200 on a graphics card than £300 on an xbox, as there's so much more that graphics card can help me do aswell as play one game.

i think its probably a little bigger decision for some people... maybe not serious gamers, but... if you're pluggin away with a 2ghz processor, half a gig of ram and an older vid card... you're almost to the point of a virtually new system to run oblivion.
360 is quite a bit cheaper from that standpoint.
dunno. lots of factors into the console vs. comp. decision. do both? :D

AMD 64 3200+, 1 Gig RAM and GF6800 GT here (with 256 MB DDR) and Oblivion runs like a charm.
and I hope with downloading you dont mean pirating ^^

I made the jump to the Xbox 360 to play Oblivion. I am at an awkward point with my desktop computer - it is too soon to scrap it and it is not worth upgrading.
Apart from the obvious shock of getting used to a gamepad over the precision of a mouse and keyboard, I am really enjoying the game and I am pretty impressed with the 360. This is the first console that can be used as a logical supplement for pc gamers.
The PS3 looks interesting but it is being delayed again until at least November. So apart from the shaky launch, I think Microsoft is going to score big with this console.

This game is just awesome... and smooth as silk on my system. Oblivion was the reason I upgraded my machine. :) I was running @ 1.6 ghz with a Radeon 9800 for the past 2 years so it was time to drop some cash on a new setup.
Dual Core @ 3.6 Ghz
2 Gigs of Ram
Radeon X1900 (512mb)
With a game like this I prefer the PC version over the Xbox because the mod community is awesome. There were some wonderful mods for Morrowind and I can't wait to see what people come up with for Oblivion.

yeah. this is a huge deal, a couple of my friends playing are aleady building lists of mods to tweak the ui etc....
and of course cant wait till they get a house to hold all their crap and display all their armor etc...
i personally will be on 360 for this one.. im hopin playin it on a phat a/v system will make up for the lack of customization. :)

While I love the 360 version of the game, I am going to play the PC version when I do get around to upgrading. Hopefully, they will have a game of the year addition by then (with the inevitable expansions) and some great user made mods:)

Even though the PS3 been delayed until the holiday season this year, console wise I'm waiting for it. Though I do have to give props to how Fight Night 3 looks absolutley gorgeous on the XBox 360.
