Seems that they don't mind people of all religions dieing to liberate them and protect them. Now if one of their own turns Christian he should be executed.

This is why you can not force democracy around the world. If they are not willing to die for it then the government quickly abuses it. Regression is always the outcome.

"Rahman's case illustrates a split over the interpretation of the Afghan constitution, which calls for religious freedom while stating that Muslims who reject Islam can be executed. "

I guess that means there is religious freedom as long as you're practicing Islam... that makes sense right?

Yes Bedpost. This is like Henry Ford saying, "you can pick any color as long as its black. And if you change the color I will kill you."

This is really interesting actually. I agree totally with Nol that you cannot force our values of right/wrong onto another culture. Well, you can but it takes a really really long time.

The very idea of "forcing" democracy on other countries is ironic to say the least.

Trying to FORCE another country to do something is never going to work. Dictatorships can work just fine as well as long as the person at the top is not a megalomaniac or someone who thinks that if someone says something bad about them they need to die. Heck even alot of people wanted George Washington to be king in our country instead of president.

The problem with a dictatorship isn't a single dictator, it's that the law of averages states you're eventually going to get a complete jackass in the driver's seat.

Yeah I don't know how you control that exactly. But there has to be a better way then having it be hereditary.
